Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from another Toyoko Inn when I first walked up to this place on Shinkitano street – you know how these business hotel chains can be pretty cookie-cutter. But this particular location actually surprised me in a good way, mainly because of where it sits in the Juso area. Most people rush through Juso to get to the flashier parts of Osaka, but there’s something refreshingly real about this neighborhood that I ended up really liking.

The hotel itself is exactly what you’d expect from Toyoko Inn – clean, efficient, no-nonsense – but the location is where it gets interesting. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Juso Station, which I mean, sounds boring until you realize this puts you on the Hankyu line with direct access to pretty much everywhere you want to go. Umeda’s about six minutes away, and you can get to Kyoto without any transfers, which honestly saved me so much hassle during my stay. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d enjoy the actual neighborhood around the hotel. There’s this whole strip of tiny yakitori joints and family-run restaurants along the shotengai (the covered shopping street) that most tourists never see because they’re too busy hitting up Dotonbori. The morning coffee shop right around the corner – I think it was called something like Morning Blend – became my daily routine, and the owner started recognizing me by day three.

The rooms are typical Toyoko Inn small but functional, though I will say the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a budget chain. What impressed me was how quiet it stays despite being so close to the station – you’d think you’d hear trains all night, but the windows actually block most of the sound. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke decent English when needed, and honestly, the whole experience just felt… reliable? Like, you’re not getting luxury here, but you’re getting exactly what you need without any unpleasant surprises. The area gets pretty lively in the evenings with all the local salarymen hitting up the izakayas, but it’s the good kind of lively – authentic Osaka energy without the tourist chaos. If you’re someone who wants to experience a more local side of the city while still having easy access to all the main attractions, this spot actually makes a lot of sense. Just don’t expect Instagram-worthy amenities – this is about location, reliability, and getting a genuine feel for how regular Osakans live and work.

  It was a good price. Nice room. Clean. Close to the subway line to Kyoto or other cities.

  I had a small issue at checkout with the staff but they let it go. They expected me to pay 1,000 yen for checking out late but didn’t inform or call us about it until after it was too late. They let it go after I spoke with the English speaking staff. The other staff refused to budge.

  First of all, the hotel was new and very clean. The view from the room we were given was quite good. The breakfast was average. I can definitely recommend it.

  The location is great, just 5 minutes from Hankyu Juso Station, which offers connections to Umeda (Osaka's central transit hub), Kyoto, and more. The room was clean, and a humidifier was provided. The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. There is also a laundry room available.
  
  What could be improved: There were limited options for breakfast, and the breakfast area was small. The room was also compact—I could barely open my luggage with ease.
