Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of business hotels in Osaka, and honestly? The Excel Hotel Tokyu surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away in Kyutaro-machi, which sounds super formal but is actually this perfectly positioned spot where you’re close enough to hear the buzz of Honten-Yamashina but far enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night crowds stumbling back from Dotonbori. The building itself has that clean, no-nonsense Japanese efficiency thing going on – you know, the kind where everything just works without making a big deal about it.

What really got me was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a chain hotel. The lobby has this understated elegance – not trying too hard to impress, but the marble actually feels quality under your feet, and there’s usually this subtle woody scent that I’m pretty sure isn’t accidental. Check-in was smooth (they handle foreign passports without the usual confusion), and the staff genuinely seemed to care about making things easy rather than just following protocol. My room was on the eighth floor, and I mean… the view isn’t going to win any Instagram contests, but there’s something honest about looking out over the real Osaka – office buildings, narrow streets, the occasional glimpse of everyday life happening below.

The rooms themselves are what sold me on this place. Sure, they’re not huge – this is Japan, after all – but everything feels intentional. The bed was actually comfortable (not a given in business hotels), the bathroom had one of those deep soaking tubs that makes you forget you’re tired from walking around Osaka Castle all day, and the soundproofing is legit. I barely heard the street noise, which is saying something since Chuo-ku never really sleeps. They’ve got all the tech stuff you’d expect – decent WiFi, plenty of outlets, a TV with English channels – but it’s the little things that matter. Like, the curtains actually block out light completely, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Breakfast was solid without being fancy – proper Japanese options alongside Western stuff, and the coffee was better than it had any right to be. The location really shines when you realize you can walk to Osaka Station in about fifteen minutes, hit up Shinsaibashi for shopping, or duck into the maze of tiny restaurants in the nearby alleys. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually choose, not just another tourist trap with inflated prices and zero personality.

  The hotel itself is at a convenient location and the amenities in the room are great! What I want to focus is the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. It is a bit pricey in Japanese standard, but it is definitely acceptable in America, especially when you look at the quality of the food. They serve both Western and Japanese cuisine. Everything is fresh and delicious. My favorite dish goes to the french toast. The Japanese way made it fluffy with the custard texture at the center. Once you top it with whipped cream, you won't need anything else. Highly recommended if you have an appetite for a big and tasty breakfast!

  hotel location excellent for somebody attending Expo 2025, close to Chuo line and metro line with connection to train to the airport. Restaurant at 17th floor offering breakfast and dinners. 5th floor lowest with guest rooms. Breakfast has western and Japanese options.

  Location is very nice. You can reach to the marketplace in 20mins on foot but you're not in the middle of the crowded areas. It's a nice balance in my opinion. The street the hotel is on was very beautifully decorated with lights and it was lively any time of the day.
  
  The room design was quite original. Toilet and shower are at completely separate places, with sink and toiletries in between in the open. Room size was decent for a business trip.
  
  Breakfast was very good. Definitely worth it. It has plenty of options for foreigners while also making traditional Osaka cuisine available. Need to mention good coffee you can take away. Cannot comment on housekeeping as I stayed only 2 nights and I didn't want cleaning. But the hotel was very clean. Finally they have a small bar at the reception where you can enjoy the view and sip your cocktail.

  What could be improved: Having the reception on 16th floor of the building makes is a little difficult to locate at first and having to use a separate set of elevators for room access needs some time get used to it. But it's definitely not a big deal.
