You know what? Nao’s Guesthouse 2 is one of those places that completely surprised me. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this whole-house rental in Higashinari-ku, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s tucked away on a quiet residential street in Oimazatominami, which honestly feels more like where actual Osakans live rather than some touristy bubble. But that’s exactly what made it special.

The moment you step inside, it hits you – this isn’t some sterile vacation rental. Nao’s actually put thought into making this feel like a real home. The tatami rooms have that authentic feel (you know, the kind where you can smell the woven straw and everything), but there’s also modern touches that make sense for travelers. I mean, you’ve got proper wifi, a washing machine that actually works, and a kitchen where you can cook real meals instead of surviving on konbini food for a week. The neighborhood itself is fantastic if you want to experience Osaka without the crowds – there’s a little shopping street about five minutes away where I found this incredible takoyaki stand that definitely doesn’t see many tourists. The walk to Imazatosuji Line is maybe eight minutes, which gets you downtown pretty easily, though I’ll warn you that the last trains come earlier than you’d expect.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. You’re in a proper residential area, so once the sun goes down, it’s just… peaceful. No drunk salarymen stumbling around, no tour groups chattering outside your window at 6 AM. Just the occasional bicycle bell and maybe some kids playing in the distance. The house sleeps about six people comfortably – I stayed with friends and we never felt cramped. There’s this little courtyard area where we’d sit in the evenings with beer from the Family Mart down the street. Actually, that Family Mart became our unofficial headquarters for late-night snacks and morning coffee. The staff there started recognizing us by day three, which I sort of loved. Look, it’s not luxury – it’s a solid 3-star experience that delivers exactly what it promises. Sometimes the shower pressure could be better, and the air conditioning in summer works hard but doesn’t quite keep up with Osaka’s brutal humidity. But honestly? For the price and the authentic neighborhood experience, those minor issues fade pretty quickly. If you want to live like a local for a few days instead of just passing through, this place nails it.

  The location was great and close to shops and metro. Lots of rooms and being able to access a washing machine was handy. Kitchen had l the necessity items.

  Big dining table and sofa. 4 individual rooms provided enough privacy. Close to the metro station. Well equipped kitchen tools, good for family stay.
  
  What could be improved: The location is close to a busy road. The sound proof isn’t great. It is quite noisy from the traffic in the middle of the night. The dirty rug can be replaced or removed.

  —total. Total of 3 floors with three flights of stairs to climb. I liked especially the ground floor room, which is ideal for my mom, who can't climb stairs often. It was wonderful to have 2 Toilets, one on the ground floor and the other on the 2nd floor.
  Location wise is near the subway station, you need to make sure the correct exit otherwise, you may need to walk longer.
  The lane leading to the unit is quiet and slightly dark in the evening. However, Japan is a safe country. and
  
  What could be improved: Only one bathroom, and it's located on the highest floor of the apartment. It may be inconvenient if you have an elderly traveler who cant climbed often or anyone occupying the ground floor.

  What could be improved: The place is very old and not so clean. There are four levels and the washing machine is at the 4th level. It did not give a good job as it never dries the clothes.

  コスパがとにかく良かったです。お部屋もお風呂も清潔で快適に過ごせました。シャンプー、バスタオル、歯ブラシなど一通りのアメニティは揃っていたのがとても助かりました。
