APA Hotel Osaka Temma Overview
First Impressions
Walking into APA Hotel Osaka Temma, you immediately get that distinctly Japanese business hotel vibe — clean, efficient, and surprisingly welcoming despite its compact size. The lobby’s modest but there’s something reassuring about the staff’s attention to detail, and honestly, after a long day exploring Osaka, that’s exactly what you want. This three-star property might not wow you with grand gestures, but it delivers on the fundamentals in a way that keeps people coming back — actually, they told me there are way more repeat guests here than at most other hotels in the area.
The Neighborhood
Temma’s one of those neighborhoods that locals know but tourists often overlook, which is actually perfect if you want to experience real Osaka life. You’re close enough to the main attractions without being stuck in the tourist chaos — Osaka Castle’s just a short train ride away, and the famous Dotonbori district is easily accessible. The area around the hotel has that authentic feel with small izakayas and convenience stores where you’ll see more salary workers than selfie sticks. I mean, you can walk to Temmangu Shrine in about ten minutes, and there’s something nice about staying somewhere that feels genuinely local.
Rooms and Comfort
The room is compact — let’s be honest, this is Japan, so you’re not getting a sprawling suite — but everything’s thoughtfully designed to maximize the space. The bed’s surprisingly comfortable, and there’s enough storage to actually unpack your suitcase, which isn’t always a given in this price range. What really impressed me was the attention to cleanliness and the little touches like decent lighting for reading and USB ports right where you need them. The windows aren’t huge, but you get glimpses of the neighborhood that remind you you’re staying somewhere real, not just another tourist bubble.
Bathing and Breakfast
Here’s where things get interesting — they’ve got both an open-air bath and a public bath, which is pretty special for a business hotel. After walking around Osaka all day, soaking in that outdoor bath while looking up at the city sky is honestly one of those simple pleasures that makes travel worthwhile. The breakfast buffet’s solid too, mixing Japanese staples with some Western options, though I’d recommend trying the Japanese side — the rice, miso soup, and grilled fish will fuel you better than another croissant. There’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in Osaka, though most people stick to the excellent train system.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works about this place? It’s that sweet spot between affordability and genuine comfort, plus the staff seems to actually care about your experience rather than just processing you through. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the quieter neighborhood vibe and those relaxing baths — there’s something romantic about discovering a local restaurant together just around the corner. The repeat guest thing makes sense once you stay here; it’s not flashy, but it gets the important stuff right, and in a city like Osaka where you’ll be out exploring most of the time anyway, that’s exactly what you need.

Reviews of APA Hotel Osaka Temma
Junyi from Singapore – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
Surprisingly comfy stay, staff were all welcoming and polite. Decent noise isolation from the train (some rooms face the tracks). I loved the blackout shutter, complete darkness at night!
What could be improved: There was some dust in various parts of the room (clothes hangers, corners, etc.).Socalkurt from Germany – 30 May 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location in Osaka. Less than 10 min walk to Temma Station. As always, APA is clean, comfortable and good value for money.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain about…Eric from Japan – 25 May 2025 (8/10)
A very efficiently designed single room. The onsen was adequate, the room was great, and the ability to stream to the TV was useful.
What could be improved: The onsen was a bit cramped, and the bathroom fan wasn’t 24 hours.Hon from Malaysia – 8 May 2025 (9/10)
Very welcoming to stay in this hotel
What could be improved: Great check in and check out.
Friendly service desk and front counter.Miles from United States – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
great location. one stop from Osaka Station & close to 7-11.
Julie from Eswatini – 12 April 2025 (9/10)
I loved how efficient the staff were and how helpful with silly tourist questions. The bed was beyond comfortable and all my needs were met. The location is perfect, just slightly out of the main city center made it less busy, more friendly and it felt like coming home after work each day. The hotel is only 6 minutes from the main train station which made travel very easy

We had a fantastic stay at APA Hotel Osaka Temma. The hotel was in a fantastic location, a short walk away from both Temma station and Ogimachi station which made it very easy to get to wherever we needed to go. It is also conveniently located a short walk from seven eleven, family mart, Don Quijote and a drug store. Kema Sakuranomiya Park is right across the road which meant we didn’t have to travel far to see the most beautiful cherry blossoms right along the water. Only an hour by train to Kyoto made it easy to do day trips.
Sukij from Thailand – 2 August 2024 (8/10)
breakfast is good enough to fill you up but minus points for having too few choices of vegetable. complete bathroom amenities in the room, TV, wifi, fridge that stays powered 24 hours, kettle, hair dryer. comfortable bed. free luggage storage room. we enjoyed the summer Osaka festival which was held in the area then walk back to hotel.
What could be improved: 1 small room saves electricity, but in this room we needed the doorway space to open 2 suitcases fully flat on the floor, plus a short bed if you're tall. 2. location, it's quite a long walk for tourists comparing to hotels in other locations in town, especially during summer heat from station to hotel many times a day.(JR Temma or Ogimachi station depends on your train pass). 3 check in time is 3pm sharp.David from Japan – 11 July 2024 (9/10)
Lovely big room. Great facilities.
What could be improved: There was a hair in the bathroom.Mishra from India – 22 March 2024 (9/10)
Walkable distance from tenma station..could store my luggage before check in and was very standardised in terms of facilities
