I’ll be honest – when I first rolled up to the Daiwa Roynet in Uehonmachi, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star chain hotel. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby’s got this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions like at some places). What really sold me though was the location – you’re literally a 2-minute walk from Osaka-Uehonmachi Station, which means you can hop on the Kintetsu line and be in Nara in 30 minutes, or take the JR loop line anywhere in the city without dealing with the absolute chaos of Osaka Station.

The rooms are… well, they’re compact in that efficient Japanese way, but everything actually works perfectly. The bed’s comfortable enough that I slept through the night (which doesn’t always happen when I’m jet-lagged), and honestly, the bathroom situation is way better than most budget places – decent water pressure and it stays hot. I mean, the walls aren’t super thick, so if you get stuck next to a family with kids, you’ll know about it, but most nights it was pretty quiet. The real genius of this place is how it sits right in this sweet spot where you’re close to all the Tennoji action – Shinsekai’s weird retro charm is just down the street, and you can walk to Sumiyoshi Taisha if you’re feeling ambitious – but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds that swarm around Dotonbori.

What really gets me is how the 8.3 rating actually feels accurate, which is rare. It’s not trying to be fancy (the breakfast is basic but decent, nothing Instagram-worthy), but everything just… works. The elevator’s fast, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s a convenience store right across the street for those late-night snack runs. Plus, if you’re planning day trips – and honestly, Osaka’s the perfect base for exploring Kansai – you’ll appreciate coming back to a place that’s comfortable without breaking the bank. The whole Uehonmachi area has this lived-in feeling that I actually prefer to the more polished tourist districts. You’ll see actual locals going about their day, grab amazing takoyaki from street vendors, and still be 15 minutes from anywhere you actually want to go. It’s the kind of place where you stop thinking about the hotel and start enjoying the trip, which is exactly what you want.

  The seamless easy check in check out. The room we booked is also large as compared to other hotels at similar prices.
  
  What could be improved: The distance away from the main attractions.
  Also, take note that if you are using the Kintetsu Airport Limo bus to and from Kansai airport, the bus hours are limited in the evening (to KIX airport) and stops at 9pm (from KIX airport). If you arrive late night, you have to take trains which is a little long walk from the Metro station Tanimachi-9-chome.

  What could be improved: Good location, nice staffs in the reception. But the electrict kettle is not good.. the batchroom is clean.. but not that spacious but clean. Closed to stores and train station.
