Z Apart ment 大阪通天閣玩具街旅居 Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Z Apart ment ” I thought, okay, this is going to be one of those quirky Japanese places that’s either amazing or completely bizarre. Turns out it’s the former, and honestly, I get why it’s sitting at a 9.5 rating.
The location is what hooked me immediately. You’re literally in the heart of Den Den Town – Osaka’s version of Tokyo’s Akihabara, but somehow more approachable and less overwhelming. Room 301 sits right above all the toy shops and electronics stores, which sounds like it would be noisy, but actually the soundproofing is surprisingly decent. I mean, you’ll hear some street sounds during the day, but nothing that kept me up at night. What’s cool is stepping out your door and being maybe thirty seconds from Tsutenkaku Tower – not that you need to climb it, but it’s this great landmark that makes you feel like you’re in “real” Osaka, you know? The whole Shinsekai district has this retro, slightly gritty charm that’s way more interesting than the polished tourist areas.
The apartment itself is compact but thoughtfully laid out in that efficient Japanese way where everything has its place. The kitchenette actually works – I made coffee every morning and even cooked a simple dinner one night with ingredients from the Lawson downstairs. Speaking of which, that convenience store became my best friend for late-night snacks and breakfast supplies. The bed is comfortable enough, and there’s decent Wi-Fi, which matters when you’re trying to navigate Osaka’s subway system or translate menu items. What I really appreciated were the little touches – proper hangers in the closet, enough outlets for charging devices, and a washing machine that actually works (though the instructions are mostly in Japanese, fair warning). The bathroom is tiny but functional, with one of those combination shower-bath setups that’s standard in Japanese apartments.
Here’s what makes this place special though – it puts you in a neighborhood where actual Osakans hang out, not just tourists. The streets around Ebisucho Station get lively in the evenings with locals grabbing dinner and drinks. I found this amazing kushikatsu place just two blocks away that had maybe three tables and served the best fried food I had in Japan. You’re also walking distance to Kuromon Ichiba Market, which gets crazy crowded with tour groups during the day but is perfect for an early morning stroll when the vendors are just setting up. The JR and subway connections are solid too – I could get to Dotonbori in about ten minutes, but honestly, I preferred coming back to this area because it felt more authentic and way less chaotic. Sure, it’s not luxury accommodation, but for the price and the experience of staying somewhere that feels genuinely Osakan rather than international-tourist-generic, it’s pretty much perfect.
Many travelers prefer to book tours in Osaka through trusted local guides that provide insider knowledge about the best areas for experiencing the city’s vibrant food culture and rich historical heritage.

The location is amazing; the property is within walking distance to the train station, various dining establishments, and the Tsutenkaku Tower. The property also comes with great amenities. Above all, the host is superb; he’s very responsive and provides helpful information to make it easy for tourists like my family to navigate our way through Osaka.
What could be improved: It is on a main street, so for light sleepers, the sound from vehicles at night might be an issue.James from Canada – 25 May 2025 (10/10)
Good location, close to everything. Even having a washing machine, very convenient.
Natalie from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location just far enough away from the crowds while still very central.
Spacious apartment and very comfortable. Near transport. Was very easy to travel and walk around Osaka.
Amenities were also excellent.

Location is the best! You can actually make it anywhere from here, all spots we wanted to visit were close to the apartment, Dotonbori only 1 subway station away, Clement very kind and kept it touch with us from the beginining, 100% recommended.

In terms of value for stay, I don't think it gets much better than this. The subway entrance to get to the central part of Osaka was easily accessible and only a 5 minute walk away. Everything was clean and it felt like a decent amount of space for 3 people.

Great location, big enough for Japanese accommodation, convenient for everything. Have microwave n kitchen stuff. Luckily we have seen some local events nearby.
What could be improved: Only have AC in the roomDelia from Philippines – 1 January 2025 (9/10)
Very accessible to the tourist areA
What could be improved: Since it’s near the train station ,its noisy plus its really a challenge to open the door.
If not for these, I would give this place a perfect 10!Thitika from Spain – 7 September 2024 (10/10)
We stayed at Clement's place for 5 days and it was amazing!!! The place was spacious, clean and fully equipped. Subway, Lawson, 7/11 and Family Mart are just right in the corner. Clement was very helpful & provided us immediate solutions if we need help. TV has Netflix so we enjoyed our family time together every night before we went to bed. Clement is one of the best hosts I ever had!!! We were super happy at his place 🤩

The room is nice and clean. Spacious for 3 people and strangely comfortable. The owner gave us our space and had send us enough information about the accomodation. A well-placed appartment near Shinsekai, ebisucho station, namba and more…
What could be improved: Just the sofa bed was somewhat hard but the beds were comfortable enough.Jingyi from Singapore – 10 June 2024 (10/10)
Close to the metro station, and 1-2 stops from the main shopping areas. Lots of food options that are walking distance from the apartment. Apartment was well equipped with everything we needed and was clean. Beds were comfortable with charging ports close by. Clement (the host) was easily contactable and reached out very early to provide us with all the info we needed to check in + directions to the accom.
What could be improved: Everything was great.
