Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about the Welina Hotel Premier Nakanoshima EAST? It’s tucked away on Edobori street in this surprisingly quiet pocket of Nishi-ku, and I mean quiet for Osaka standards. When I first walked up, honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place — but sometimes those mid-range spots surprise you, and this one sort of does.

The thing about this location is you’re actually sitting pretty close to Nakanoshima Park, which most tourists completely miss but locals love for morning jogs and evening strolls along the river. I’d wake up early and walk over there with my coffee (the lobby has decent coffee, by the way — not amazing, but better than the usual hotel brew). The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions, and one of them actually drew me a little map showing the best route to Osaka Castle that avoids the crazy tourist crowds on the main streets. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a newer 3-star in Japan — compact but thoughtfully laid out, everything works, and surprisingly good blackout curtains which saved my life during those summer months when the sun comes up at like 5 AM. The bathroom’s small but has one of those Japanese toilet seats that make you never want to go back to regular toilets again.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits right between two worlds — you’ve got the business district energy during the day with all the salary workers rushing around, but then evenings get mellow and you can actually hear yourself think. There’s this little convenience store about two minutes away that becomes your best friend, and if you walk maybe five minutes toward the river, you’ll find some izakayas that clearly cater to locals rather than tourists (way better prices, way better atmosphere). The 7.6 rating makes sense to me — it’s solidly good without being spectacular, but honestly, for the price point and location, I’d stay there again. Just don’t expect a gym or fancy amenities; this is more about having a clean, comfortable base while you explore the city. Oh, and if you’re planning to use public transport a lot, the nearest station is a bit of a walk, but nothing crazy — maybe 7-8 minutes to Higobashi Station. Pack comfortable shoes and you’ll be fine.

really lovely hotel in good location and excellent value for money

What could be improved: no microwave on the site which I find in Japan to be needed especially if you want to enjoy the convenience store and bring something back to the room for later

  • Michael from New Zealand – 30 December 2024 (9/10)

Good location in a more quiet area. Lots of food options close by. Staff were very helpful.

  • Jen from Australia – 21 December 2024 (7/10)

Price! Value for money, and you get what you pay for. Budget room but it does the job.

What could be improved: Not enough towels or amenities for the people staying.

  • Kirstie from Qatar – 30 November 2024 (9/10)

The rooms are clean and on standard size for a solo traveler. Very near to the Subway Yotsubashi Line, though it’s not in the Namba area it’s still not that far away if you like walking. The neighborhood is calm and quiet which I wanted. There are konbini and restaurants nearby for a meal and snack run.

What could be improved: The exit from subway doesn’t have lift so you have to carry luggages to go up or down the stairs. There is no microwave in the rooms but you can ask the reception to heat food for you if you need to. The staff are nice even if there is a language barrier since they don’t speak english.

  • Rebecca from Australia – 25 November 2024 (8/10)

It was clean and easy to access near subway station

  • Hashim from Japan – 13 November 2024 (8/10)

The property is great, the room is a solid size, he bed was extremely comfortable, shower had excellent pressure and the wi-fi was solid. The location was superb, extremely close to the Higobashi metro and not too fair from Yodoyobashi too, and there is a 7/11 and Family Mart meters away for your Nanachiki or Famichiki needs, also, there are an excellent handful of restaurants that are even closer!

What could be improved: My one issue would be I would've liked some fresh sheets. If you stay more than two days, your room won't be cleaned. You still get fresh towels, but by the end of my stay I had a pile of towels in the corner of the bathroom.

  • Amber from Australia – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

It’s felt luxe, and was very comfortable for 1 traveller. , and was close to the train station and convenience stores. It made our travel plans easy.

What could be improved: A Little more fresh air in the hallways as it was very humid in Summer snd some options for coffee, in addition to the buffet breakfast would be nice

  • Mathilde from France – 28 September 2024 (8/10)

It was very clean and modern. Perfect basic and comfortable room. Perfect location if you’re on a business trip for Naganoshima area.

What could be improved: I arrived at 2:45pm and they made me wait until 3pm, the exact check in time to actually check in. Of course it is their right but I just do feel like it is a bit stupid. But I guess it is Japanese rules.

  • Caitlin from United Kingdom – 13 July 2024 (7/10)

Great location and helpful, friendly staff. Good shower and bathroom facilities.

What could be improved: The air-conditioning seemed to be faulty and made the room freezing cold when switched on no matter what we did. The beds were also quite hard.

  • Jack from Taiwan – 5 June 2024 (7/10)

The location is good, near Higobashi Metro Station. There is a Lawson nearby and if you need microwave, FD staff could help you. Staffs at FD are friendly and nice.

What could be improved: 1. The fridge in my room never works (#606).
    2. The bath towel has a dirts on it.
    3. The remote control and the desk have dirts.
    4. The trash bin doesn't come with trash bags so I have to go to conbini and get one.
    5. Saw HSK staffs put PET bottles trash bags together with the same elevator that guests are taking.. not so good.
