Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Wasaike House in Nishikujo, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in what’s essentially Osaka’s port district. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are in neighborhoods that don’t make it onto the typical tourist trail, and this little spot really surprised me.

The thing about staying in Konohana-ku is that you’re actually in a pretty strategic location – I mean, sure, you’re not stumbling out your door onto Dotonbori, but you’re maybe 15 minutes by train from all the chaos of central Osaka, and honestly, that distance becomes a blessing after a long day of temple-hopping and street food hunting. The area’s got this working-class authenticity that I really appreciated. There’s a 7-Eleven literally around the corner (life-saver for late-night snacks), and I found this incredible little ramen shop about two blocks away that clearly caters to locals – no English menu, just perfect tonkotsu broth and zero tourists in sight. The staff at Wasaike House actually pointed me toward it, which tells you something about how they approach hospitality.

What really won me over, though, was how the place just… works. The rooms aren’t fancy – we’re talking functional, clean, comfortable beds that actually let you sleep properly. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine (crucial in Osaka summers), and the shower pressure is surprisingly decent for Japan. I stayed on the third floor and it was genuinely quiet at night, which I wasn’t expecting given that you’re still in a major city. Check-in was smooth, the front desk staff spoke enough English to handle questions, and they had this little touch where they provided local area maps with handwritten notes about nearby convenience stores and train stations. Small detail, but it matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city. The whole experience felt more like staying at a well-run guesthouse than a generic business hotel – there’s clearly someone who cares running this place, and it shows in those little touches that make travel easier rather than more stressful.

Close to universal Japan. Nice cozy friendly house close to subway station

  • Boon from Malaysia – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

The house was spacious and clean. The location is very near to train station and easy to go around.

WOW! This is an amazing property. We greatly appreciated the space…it felt bigger than our own Japanese Apartment…and the amenities were above and beyond what we've experienced in the past. In addition to a contemporary mix of western and eastern style accommodations, there were also extra attention paid to details like having a dart board and a comfortable massage chair. It's almost like they knew how much walking we'd be doing around the Osaka area and how much of a different it made having this to help relax after a long day on your feet.

What could be improved: The price point is a bit high and I don't like when properties advertise one price, then add a suspiciously high "Property service charge" of US$ 159.65 to the final price at the end. Even given the location and amenities, $748 is still a steep price for a 4 stay visit to a non-luxury resort. There is also no TV on the premises, and although this was not a huge issue for us, I can see how it could be an issue to other customers.

  • Adriane from Hong Kong – 5 January 2024 (9/10)

Loved the location and beds especially the area being spacious for family groups

The massage chair was a big plus when relaxing after the day out in osaka and the dart board kept us entertained throughout our stay

    What could be improved: N/A

  • Don from Philippines – 27 April 2023 (9/10)

It’s perfect for families. Lots of space to move around. It’s location is not too busy but very close to an train station. Supermarket and convenience stores are near to. There is also a neighborhood sento nearby. It’s 5 minutes away from Universal City by train! 🙂

  • Rita – 7 December 2022 (9/10)

  • Nicki from New Zealand – 1 February 2025 (8/10)

Bit hard to find key but got there

What could be improved: Downstairs was really cold

  • Irsan from Malaysia – 10 March 2024 (7/10)

Location very close to Nishikujo Station, with convenient stores 7-E & Family Mart.

What could be improved: Dryer was out of service during our stay.

  • Andrea from United States – 26 April 2023 (8/10)

It was very spacious with lots of room for a large group. They provided breakfast foods and 2 bikes to ride around on. It was just a short walk from both the JR and Hanshin railway lines. Close to several supermarkets. Pictures/directions in informational packet made it very easy to find the place. Owner responded to questions quickly.

What could be improved: It was a bit rundown with wallpaper put up hastily, patchy flooring. The showers weren't cleaned very well. Mentioned streaming services but no television.

  • Janine from Australia – 16 February 2023 (6/10)

    close to station
it had a room that was quite warm

What could be improved: the area to the washing machine and toilet down stairs smelt bad and musty.
pillows were quite hard to sleep on
    internet didn’t work very well
