Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Travelodge Honmachi, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked into this narrow street in Azuchimachi, and from the outside it looks like, well, a pretty standard business hotel. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions bite you in the ass, because this place actually gets it right in ways that matter.

The thing about staying in Honmachi is that you’re basically in the heart of Osaka’s business district, which sounds boring until you realize what that actually means. You’re a five-minute walk from Honmachi Station – and I mean actually five minutes, not travel-website five minutes – plus you’ve got the Sakaisuji and Chuo subway lines right there. I spent most mornings grabbing coffee from the Doutor downstairs (yeah, there’s a Doutor literally in the building) and hopping on the train to wherever I needed to go. Dotonbori? Twelve minutes. Osaka Castle? Maybe fifteen. The staff seems to get that most people staying here are either business travelers or tourists who actually want to see the city instead of just hanging around their hotel, so check-in was refreshingly efficient – no twenty-minute spiel about amenities I’ll never use.

The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star place, but done thoughtfully. Clean lines, decent bed, and honestly the best part is how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being in the middle of the business district would mean noise, but these streets pretty much roll up after 8 PM on weekdays. The air conditioning actually works (not always a given in older Japanese hotels), and there’s enough space to properly open your suitcase without doing some weird floor puzzle. What I really appreciated, though, was how the whole place feels lived-in rather than sterile – you can tell the housekeeping staff takes pride in their work, and the front desk folks genuinely seem to know the neighborhood. When I asked about finding decent ramen that wasn’t tourist-trap garbage, the guy didn’t just point me toward some chain – he drew me a little map to this place three blocks away where apparently half the office workers in the area eat lunch. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake, and it’s probably why this place sits at an 8.1 rating instead of sliding into forgettable territory like so many mid-range hotels do. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, keep looking. But if you want a place that’s actually convenient, genuinely comfortable, and run by people who seem to give a damn about doing their job well, the Travelodge Honmachi delivers exactly what it promises.

  The location of the hotel is near to 3 Subway Lines. The shower and bath tub are separate cubicle

  This Travelodge is surprisingly well located. You're only a couple of stops from the main stations and a short journey to other tourist hotspots like Dotonburi. The hotel itself seems to be very new and is spotless. The rooms are compact but nicely appointed and I slept extremely well.
  
  What could be improved: It was disappointing not to be able to check in earlier but I understand the hotel was quite full. The washing machine and dryers were cheap to use but a long wait until the dryers were free. And the price seemed to drop closer to our arrival time: my friend booked a room at fairly short notice and got it cheaper.

  Location was excellent, near the subway and having a lot of convenience stores in the area. Weekends were quiet as it is a working district but overall nice place to stay
