You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of business hotels in Osaka, and this Toyoko Inn actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away in Higashi-mikuni, which honestly isn’t where most tourists end up, but that’s exactly why I liked it. The whole area feels like real Osaka – you’ll see salarymen grabbing breakfast at the konbini across the street and families walking to the local elementary school in the mornings.

The hotel itself is classic Toyoko Inn, which means everything works exactly as it should without any fuss. My room was small (obviously – this is Japan), but they’ve got that efficient layout thing down to a science. The bed was actually more comfortable than I expected, and the bathroom had one of those fancy toilet seats that makes you feel like you’re living in the future. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being right by the station – I mean, you can hear the trains if you really listen, but it’s more of a gentle rumble that actually helped me sleep. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. The guy at the front desk drew me a little map showing the best route to Shin-Osaka station and pointed out a decent ramen place that’s open late (it’s called Menya Saimi, by the way, and their tonkotsu is legit).

Here’s the thing about the location – it’s about a 12-minute walk to Shin-Osaka, which sounds annoying until you realize you’re avoiding all the chaos around the main station area. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with small shops and local restaurants that close early, so it gets pretty peaceful after 9 PM. There’s a Family Mart literally next door, which saved me multiple times when I needed snacks or forgot to grab toiletries. The walk to Shin-Osaka isn’t bad at all – mostly flat, well-lit, and you pass through some residential streets where you can peek at how regular Osaka folks live. Plus, once you’re at Shin-Osaka, you’re connected to everything. I used it as a base for day trips to Kyoto and Nara, and honestly, it worked better than staying in the touristy areas where everything costs twice as much. The price point is really reasonable too, especially considering you get that reliable Toyoko Inn experience. It’s not fancy – the lobby is pretty basic and the breakfast is standard business hotel fare – but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place to crash after a long day of temple-hopping or getting lost in Dotonbori.

  Hotel is on good location, near central station. Room was good, but probably breakfast could be better. Staff was very helpful and we had good time in this hotel.

  friendly staff specially Ajimoto…Food is good. Location perfect. The only thing is one pillow and no clock. Needs to open the TV to see the time.. But other than that stay was so good that is why highly recommended

  Nice vibes in the room (Toyoko Inn usually does this well, with big windows and good lighting.)

  What could be improved: This is a huge building which would accommodate hundreds of people but the dining area is small considering, people were awkwardly lining up for their basic breakfast.
