You know what? The Toyoko Inn Osaka Umeda Nakatsu No.2 is one of those places that gets everything right without trying to be fancy about it. I mean, you’re not going to confuse it with the Ritz or anything, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. It sits quietly in Toyosaki, just far enough from the main Umeda chaos that you can actually get some sleep, but close enough that you’re literally a five-minute walk from Nakatsu Station on the Hankyu line.

The thing about this particular Toyoko Inn – and I’ve stayed at a bunch of them across Japan – is that they nailed the location. You’ve got this perfect sweet spot where you can stumble back from the izakayas in Umeda without dealing with the tourist crowds, plus there’s this great little convenience store right around the corner that stays open late. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid business hotel: compact but clever, with that desk that’s actually big enough to spread out your stuff and decent wifi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes. The bed’s firm in that Japanese way that somehow works better than it should, and the bathroom – well, it’s tiny but everything’s exactly where it needs to be.

What really impressed me was how smooth everything runs. Check-in took maybe two minutes, the front desk staff spoke enough English to handle the basics (though honestly, their systems are so streamlined you barely need to talk anyway), and the whole place just feels… organized. Not sterile, just efficient. The breakfast is pretty standard Toyoko Inn fare – rice, miso soup, some pickles, coffee that’s better than it has any right to be – but it gets you going for the day without breaking the bank. And here’s something I appreciated: the walls are actually thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or the trains rumbling by outside. During cherry blossom season when every hotel in Osaka is packed, this place maintains its calm somehow. I’d definitely book here again, especially if I’m planning to explore both the Umeda shopping scene and maybe catch a train out to Kyoto – which, by the way, is super easy from Nakatsu Station.

  The exceptionally spacious room is the largest I've experienced on this trip, offering generous living space.
  
  A particularly convenient amenity is the complimentary shuttle service, which operates:
  • To Osaka Station: Every 15 minutes from 6:00-10:30 AM
  • Return to Hotel: Starting at 5:00 PM
  
  The hotel's breakfast service is both delicious and practical – guests have the option to enjoy their complimentary meal in the dining area or take it to-go in provided boxes for in-room dining.

  The property was clean, efficient, and within a good walking distance from the metro train station. The optional shuttle to the other train was good (although we used different lines and didn’t really need to go there). Breakfast was diverse, complimentary amenities (toothbrush, coffee/tea, etc) were appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: I feel like this is between a hostel and a budget hotel. Clean, safe and efficient, but I had to pay extra for another towel. The room was booked for myself and 10 year old daughter—so we were put into a single room with one pillow and one towel. The cost of the towel was minimal, but was very surprised at this policy and was something that made me feel like I wouldn’t return to this hotel chain again. *Note—if you wait another day they deliver clean towels.
  
  Bed and pillow were quite uncomfortable. We were exhausted so it was okay, but compared to other stays we had in Tokyo, it was surprising.

  I like the included breakfast. Good variety and quite tasty. The shuttle to osaka station is also very convenient. The facilities are well thought of – functional/efficient. The staff are polite and friendly and quite easy to communicate with in English. The clothes washer and dryer functions well. Easy checkin and checkout.
  
  What could be improved: The pillow is hard and flat- not comfortable to sleep in. The mattress is not as soft as well. The room is very small. It would be very difficult for somebody with large luggage.

  Quiet environment, bed was really big, overall room size was also bigger than expected, we could open 2 cabin sized luggage no problem. Breakfast provided was also really good and the free shuttle bus service was very convenient (just look out for the blue Toyoko inn van).

  I recently stayed at the Tokyo Inn in Osaka for 10 days during my first visit to Japan for Christmas and new year, and it was an incredible experience! The staff was exceptionally welcoming and professional, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. A special shoutout to Kato from the front office, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and smooth. Their kindness and efficiency truly stood out.
  my staying was single room, every 3 days full room clean, and got the Japanese style breakfast, nothing to say.
  
  The hotel's location is fantastic, with easy access to major tourist destinations like Dotonbori, Umeda, and Namba. It's not far from these hotspots, making it a convenient base for exploring Osaka. Additionally, the Nakatsu Station (Midosuji Line) is just a short walk away, providing seamless transportation throughout the city.

  Traveling to nearby cities such as Nara, Kyoto, Himeji, and Kobe was also a breeze. The connectivity from the hotel made day trips simple and hassle-free, which was a huge plus for me as a first-time traveler to Japan.
  
  Overall, I highly recommend Tokyo Inn for its excellent service, strategic location, and convenient access to both Osaka’s attractions and neighboring cities. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit!
