Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Toyoko Inn Temmabashi? It’s tucked into this surprisingly quiet stretch of Ote-dori, which honestly caught me off guard given how central it is. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Temmabashi Station, but the street itself has this calm, almost residential feel that most Osaka business hotels completely lack. The building itself is pretty standard Toyoko Inn fare – clean, efficient, no frills – but there’s something about the way the morning light hits the lobby that makes it feel warmer than you’d expect from a chain property.

The rooms are small (obviously, this is Japan), but they’ve got that Toyoko Inn magic where everything just works. The bed is surprisingly comfortable for what you’re paying, and the bathroom – well, it’s tiny but spotless, which is really all you need after a long day wandering around Osaka Castle or hitting up the bars in Kitahama. Speaking of location, this is where things get interesting. Most people think Temmabashi is just another business district, but you’re actually sitting right between some of the city’s best-kept secrets. There’s this incredible little standing bar about two blocks south that serves the best yakitori I’ve had outside of Tokyo, and the morning fish market nearby (not Kuromon – the locals-only one) is absolutely worth the early wake-up call. The hotel staff actually knew about both places when I asked, which tells you they’re paying attention to their neighborhood.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the practical stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. Check-in was painless – their English is decent, and they’ve got those automated machines if you prefer. The coin laundry on the third floor is never crowded (unlike some places I could mention), and there’s a 7-Eleven literally next door for those late-night snack runs. The breakfast is standard Toyoko Inn – nothing fancy, but the coffee’s hot and the rice balls are fresh. I actually ended up skipping it most days because there’s this incredible bakery about five minutes toward the river that opens at 6 AM, but it’s nice knowing it’s there. One small thing that annoyed me: the elevator can be slow during rush hours when all the business travelers are heading out, but honestly, that’s my only real complaint. For a three-star place that’s charging reasonable rates in central Osaka, the Toyoko Inn Temmabashi delivers exactly what it promises – a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t get in the way of your trip.

Reviews

  • Marcio from Poland – 24 January 2025 (8/10)

Great price, great location. The staff at the hotel were really nice and helpful, and the rooms were comfortable. It had everything you'd need for a good stay.

What could be improved: The humidifier in the room was busted. That's about it.

  • Shihomi from Japan – 16 November 2024 (9/10)

    free breakfast

What could be improved: No view from the window

  • Tatiana from Germany – 12 November 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: It was quite loud in the room, probably because of the AC in the building

  • Lynda from United Kingdom – 13 October 2024 (7/10)

It is within walking distance of a metro station and the castle. Lots of places to eat nearby. Friendly and welcoming staff 24/7

What could be improved: Having stayed at other toyoko inn hotels the breakfast was not as good with a limited choice of foods.

  • Elisha from Philippines – 23 April 2024 (9/10)

Free breakfast! It's close enough to the station but if you're not used to walking a lot, it can be tiring. And lugging around your baggage from the station to your hotel is so tiring.

What could be improved: No head to toe mirror. No safe in my room. Windows are hard to open… It was a bit of a walk to the station. it's fine when you're not bringing lots of luggage but it can be tiring when u just wanna get to the hotel after a long day

  • Amy from United States – 8 December 2023 (8/10)

    Good service breakfast included
    High recommend

  • Marcin from Poland – 11 June 2023 (9/10)

Very good breakfasts. Fresh every day and always something different. In the room clean, friendly staff. Super!

What could be improved: Late check-in time, but you can leave your luggage early and go to Osaka Castle

  • Dinesh from Japan – 24 October 2022 (8/10)

The room was pretty clean. No so much space though but enough to put things.

What could be improved: Less Vegeterian options in the breakfast.
Little far from station. On top of that the walking actually includs climbing slope. Difficult when you are already tired and having travel bags with you.

    No transportation service from hotel.

  • Ronald from Singapore – 12 April 2025 (8/10)

Staff very helpful. Breakfast was good.

What could be improved: Checking in was a problem as I had to check in one room at a time using machine. Need to improve. Booking. Com stated address of your hotel has an error. It states Ote-dori1-4-15. The 1 is connected to the word dori and I could not use it well for Google map, and could not use it when booking hotel to airport transfer.

  • Joven from Japan – 5 January 2025 (7/10)

The food was okay (Not too many choices but decent)
The room was spacious. The water flow was strong.
Room was clean and there are so many outlets available.
Elevator was quick too (not much wait time, which was awesome)
Clean water is available in the lobby.
    Staff are friendly.

What could be improved: Amenities: There aren't any instant coffees, nor are there any spoons to mix the drinks.

Room: No safe box. There's only one cup for warm and cold water. The mirror in the toilet fogs during bath.

Location: It's quite a walk to the station. At night there are close convenience stores but not much restaurants to eat at.

Service: Coffee service ends at 10am. (I'd at least appreciate an instant coffee option to bring up to my room)
