I’ve walked to Kuromon Ichiba Market for breakfast, hit up the underground shopping areas when it’s raining, and caught late trains back from Kyoto without breaking a sweat.

The Room Experience

The room is exactly what you’d expect from a Japanese business hotel — small but incredibly well-designed. Every inch serves a purpose, from the perfectly sized desk to the bathroom that somehow fits everything you need into a space the size of a closet. The bed is firm (which took me a night to adjust to), but the linens are crisp and clean. What I didn’t expect was how well the soundproofing works — you’d think being this close to Namba’s action would mean noise, but I slept surprisingly well.

The breakfast buffet is simple but solid — think Japanese comfort food rather than international spread. You’ll find rice, miso soup, grilled fish, and some Western basics like toast and coffee. It’s not going to win any awards, but it gets the job done and honestly, the coffee is better than I expected. The restaurant area gets busy around 7:30 AM with business travelers, so I learned to either go early or wait until after 8:30. Pro tip: grab some of those little packets of nori — they make everything better.

The location score speaks for itself — couples especially seem to love how easy it makes exploring Osaka together.   Great location steps from the train station entrance. Breakfast was filling. Very clean rooms. Nice rain showerhead. Free skin care products were nice. Free lockers in basement for luggage storage also great.
  
  What could be improved: Just a few hooks for hanging clothes up, but they did provide extra hangers on request.

  Great location. Right next to a subway exit. Walking distance to dotonbori, markets and different attractions. One subway line all the way to the airport.
  The room was clean and reasonable size. Bathroom was clean and efficient although a bit small.
  Breakfast was very nice. A combination of local Osaka food and some western options. Breakfast staff were nice and pointed out which items were vegetarian for us. Laundry facilities were also very good.
  
  What could be improved: We stayed in a queen room which was big enough but the bed was situated in the middle of the room and there was no way to get to the space on either side of the bed without climbing on the bed. A bit strange and also made it a bit hard to unpack.
  We asked for an extra towel and they charged us 100 yen for it. No big deal but didn’t happen at the other hotels we stayed at in Japan. There was also a city tax to pay on top of what we paid for the room.. price was ok but higher than other same level hotels

  Location is perfect. Literally outside Namba station and 5 minute walk to Dotonbori. Breakfast staff was very kind and recommended us a lot of nearby spots for groceries and tourism spots.
  
  What could be improved: Hotel had water machine but didn't allow using it for bottle refilling for some reason. Room service was only once each 4 days.

  We have always had good experiences at Toyoko Inns and the Osaka Namba location was no exception. They are not fancy, but they are predictable and provide good value for the money. As usual, rooms were clean and convenient. Fantastic location across from the train station and just a couple of blocks from Dotonbori. This location is one of the largest we've stayed in. However, the breakfast service and luggage lockers were well organized. Breakfast was not fancy, but it was ample and had enough variety to please all of us.
