Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Toyoko Inn in Kyobashi, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked away on Nakanocho street in this sort of quiet residential pocket of Miyakojima-ku, and from the outside it looks like, well, a typical business hotel. But you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need in Osaka.
The thing about this place is its location – and I mean the real location, not just “convenient to everything.” You’re actually in this interesting spot where you can walk to Kyobashi station in about eight minutes (I timed it), which puts you on the JR loop line, but you’re also surprisingly close to Sakuranomiya Park along the river. That park, by the way, is absolutely gorgeous during cherry blossom season – hence the hotel’s name – and even in other seasons it’s this peaceful strip of green that most tourists completely miss. The hotel staff mentioned that a lot of their regular guests are Japanese business travelers who specifically request this location because it’s quiet at night but still connected to everything. I get it now.
Inside, it’s clean and efficient in that distinctly Japanese way. The rooms are small – I mean, really small if you’re used to American hotel standards – but everything has its place. The bed was actually pretty comfortable, and honestly, the whole setup reminded me of a well-designed ship cabin where every inch serves a purpose. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed even though you’re still in the city. The double-pane windows do their job, and the AC unit wasn’t one of those rattling monsters that keep you up all night. Check-in was smooth (they had English-speaking staff when I needed it), and they’ve got that Japanese attention to detail thing down – fresh towels, spotless bathroom, even little slippers that actually fit.
The breakfast situation is pretty standard Toyoko Inn fare – nothing fancy, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of exploring. Rice, miso soup, some pickled vegetables, toast if you’re feeling Western. I actually ended up skipping it most mornings because there’s this fantastic little bakery called Pain de Singe just a few blocks away that opens early and has these incredible melon pan that are worth the walk. Plus, being in this neighborhood means you’re near some really solid local spots that don’t show up in guidebooks – there’s a yakitori place under the train tracks that I stumbled onto one evening that was packed with salarymen and served some of the best grilled chicken I had in Japan.
For the price point, this place delivers exactly what it promises. It’s not luxurious, it’s not Instagram-worthy, but it’s reliable and well-positioned. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to experience a bit of everyday Osaka life rather than staying in the touristy areas, this works really well. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s doing the fundamentals right without any major surprises, good or bad.

Great value for money. I always look for toyoko inn hotels when I travel since the rooms are clean and amenities are provided.
What could be improved: Staff couldn't speak English at all. It would really help if they can speak some English especially with the influx of tourists in japan.C from Taiwan – 7 December 2024 (7/10)
It is a hotel suitable for business trip. Easy check in and check out. Bed as well as pillow are comfortable. It is located 10-min walk from nearby JR station. The closest convenient store is only 4-min walk away from the hotel. Hotel provides free WiFi service with unique password. The WiFi speed is fast. I enjoyed walking around the nearby park in the morning.
What could be improved: Breakfast may need to improve a little bit. There were not many options to choose from. However, I liked the soup they provide.Soraida from Philippines – 30 May 2024 (9/10)

Property is almost in the heart of Osaka and have lots of attractions close by. It’s beautiful and staff is so humble and helpful. Breakfast was so delicious and healthy at the same time.
What could be improved: Rooms are not big they are actually quite congested. If you have two luggages with you then it becomes a little problematic because the space is very small. No Netflix No YouTube so take your HDMI cable with you if you’re a fan of watching TV. They don’t clean rooms everyday but they do clean them about in 3 or 4 day. However they provide you bath towels everyday. Bathroom is small and two person will be able to brush at the same time.Ines from Japan – 10 October 2023 (9/10)
The room is small (as to be expected) but spotlessly clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. I traveled with my pet (dog) and they had thought about everything that I could possibly need for him in the room, which was greatly appreciated. The location was great as well and breakfast delicious. Price-quality for a stay with a pet, this would be my recommendation for Osaka and we would definitely stay here again.
What could be improved: I was asked to pay an extra fee for the dog upon arrival. This annoyed me since I specifically booked a room for a single person with a pet, so it would have been better to just add this into the total price instead of it being an added-on cost. Or to mention it somewhere on the profile page.
Pets are not allowed to be on the lead in the hotel but need to stay in their crates and are only allowed out of their crates in your room. I think this might be normal in Japanese pet-friendly hotels, but it does not feel very pet friendly.
