You know what? The Toyoko Inn Osaka Honmachi No1 is one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, but somehow gets everything right. I mean, it’s tucked away on Kitakyuhojimachi street in Chuo-ku, which honestly sounds intimidating until you realize you’re actually in this perfect little pocket of central Osaka that most tourists completely miss. The building itself is pretty standard Toyoko Inn style – clean lines, that familiar burgundy signage – but the location is what really sold me on this place.

Here’s the thing about staying here: you’re literally walking distance from Honmachi Station, which connects you to basically everywhere you want to go, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of staying right in Dotonbori or Namba. I actually prefer it this way because you can step outside in the morning and grab coffee from one of those tiny local spots (there’s this amazing little place two blocks down that opens at 6 AM), then hop on the subway without fighting through crowds of other tourists. The neighborhood has that authentic Osaka business district vibe during the day – lots of salarymen, small restaurants that fill up at lunch, convenience stores on every corner – but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star business hotel: compact but thoughtfully designed, with those little touches that make Japanese hotels so efficient. The beds are actually pretty comfortable, and the bathrooms – well, they’re small but everything works perfectly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.

What really impressed me though was how genuinely helpful the staff was, especially considering this isn’t some luxury property. The front desk folks spoke decent English and seemed to actually care about making sure guests had what they needed. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived way earlier than expected after a long flight. And honestly, for the price point, you’re getting incredible value – I mean, an 8.3 rating doesn’t happen by accident. The internet is fast (crucial for staying connected), the air conditioning works properly (not always a given), and there’s something reassuring about the consistent Toyoko Inn standards. If you’re the type of traveler who wants a reliable, clean base for exploring Osaka without paying tourist-trap prices, this place delivers. You’re not getting a resort experience, but you’re getting exactly what you need to have a great trip – and sometimes that’s worth more than all the fancy amenities in the world.

  The location is very close to the main street where are a lot of stores and to the Dotonbori side.

  What could be improved: I have a suggestion for breakfast service. Here they only serve Onigiri (Japanese rice ball) and soup every day. They should change the menu to have more variety like other branches of the hotel. I have stayed at this hotel in several cities where the breakfast options are more varied than here.
