Tokyu Stay Osaka Hommachi Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of business hotels in Osaka, and honestly? The Tokyu Stay Hommachi surprised me in ways I wasn’t expecting. First off, it’s tucked into this quiet pocket of Kyutaromachi – you know, that area where all the office buildings suddenly give way to these narrow streets that feel almost residential. I mean, you’re still right in the heart of things, but there’s something refreshing about stepping off the main drag into what feels like a more lived-in part of the city.
What really got me was how they’ve thought through the little stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The rooms have these compact washer-dryer combos (game changer if you’re staying more than a couple nights), and the kitchenettes aren’t just for show – there’s actually decent counter space and proper utensils. The front desk staff… well, they genuinely seem to get that foreign guests might need directions that go beyond pointing at a map. When I asked about the best way to get to Dotonbori without dealing with the Namba crowds, the evening clerk actually sketched out this route through Sakaisuji that saved me probably twenty minutes of tourist shuffle.
Here’s the thing about the location – it’s one of those spots that looks boring on paper but works brilliantly in practice. You’ve got Hommachi Station literally two blocks away, which connects you to both the Midosuji and Chuo lines without the chaos of the major interchange stations. But what I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt. There’s this whole network of covered shopping streets (the locals call them shotengai) that branch out from nearby Honten-yamashina, so even when it’s raining – and let’s be honest, it rains a lot in Osaka – you can wander around and find actual neighborhood spots instead of just chain restaurants. I stumbled onto this incredible ramen place called Menya 7.5Hz about six minutes’ walk away, tucked under an office building where I was literally the only tourist.
The hotel itself has that clean, efficient vibe that Tokyu properties do well, but it doesn’t feel sterile. Maybe it’s because you hear the neighborhood coming to life in the morning – not traffic noise, but more like the sound of people actually living their lives. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect. It’s just… solid. Really solid. The kind of place where the WiFi actually works in every corner of your room, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and you don’t have to decode some complicated system just to get ice. You know what I mean? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – especially if you’re using Osaka as a base to explore Kansai and you just need a reliable place to crash that doesn’t eat up half your budget.

What could be improved: The Breakfast quality was not the best.

Location is within reasonable reach to all major attractions. Love the in room washer to take care of the laundry. Shower was super nice. Bed and linens are comfortable.
What could be improved: Room is not big so if you have split style luggage it’s hard to find space to fully open it. The breakfast was a bit mediocre so next time I would book it without it.Nicole from United States – 7 June 2025 (9/10)
Located between two main Metro lines, so getting around was easy. Laundry in the room was an excellent feature (detergent is provided, as well as English instructions for running the machine). Rooms aren't huge, but the space is used nicely, and we had no trouble have two carry on sized suitcases open at the same time. After checkout, there are free lockers for smaller bags, and a paid locking cable system for oversized.
What could be improved: Minimal housekeeping might be an issue for some people, but we were fine with just trash pickup and fresh towels daily. Breakfast was just OK, nothing special.Betty from United States – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
Liked a lot having a washing machine so I did not need to carry much clothes.
What could be improved: Housekeeping could have been a bit better.Alexander from United States – 21 May 2025 (9/10)

good location
clean and refreshed look
washing and dryer availableChenjana from Taiwan – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was excellent, with plenty of convenience stores nearby and the subway just a minute’s walk away. We also really enjoyed walking from the hotel to Shinsaibashi. It was such a pleasant walk that we didn’t even bother taking the metro. We chose the economy double room specifically because it came with a washing machine. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless without feeling cramped. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Refa hair dryer provided (much nicer than the standard generic ones). The room also came with a trouser press, which was a handy addition. The towels were also impressively clean, and not old or worn out, which was a nice touch.
What could be improved: Although the room was on the smaller side, it would’ve been helpful to have some luggage storage space, perhaps under the bed. The TV was a smart model, but the interface was difficult to navigate.Sergio from Canada – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
Room with washing machine and microwave in the room
What could be improved: Hotel is a bit far from Midosuji line. Not many food choices around the area.Marklc from Japan – 27 April 2025 (9/10)
Spacious room with washing machine.
What could be improved: wanted to change my schedule and check out a day early but was able to get a refundCatriona from New Zealand – 25 April 2025 (7/10)
The washing machine was great.
Close to subway stations.
Comfortable room with a table and two chairs so we could sit and eat a snack. The microwave was a bonus.
The breakfast was excellent. There was lots to choose from that satisfied lots of tastes. I would recommend you book a room with Breakfast included.
What could be improved: The reception on the 18th floor. It’s nice a be greeted as you come and go. Not a major issue.
