The Rise Osaka Kitashinchi Overview

So I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Rise Osaka Kitashinchi, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these smaller hotels actually get it right in ways the big chains miss entirely. This place sits right in Dojima, which if you don’t know the area, is basically where Osaka’s business district meets the real nightlife action of Kitashinchi. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the city’s best izakayas and about five minutes from Osaka Station – not the touristy exit everyone uses, but the north side where locals actually catch their trains.

The thing about this hotel is it feels like it was designed by people who actually travel for work, not just vacation. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Japan, after all), but everything’s positioned exactly where you’d want it. The desk actually fits a laptop without you having to move the weird decorative lamp that every hotel seems to have. The shower pressure is surprisingly solid – honestly better than some four-star places I’ve stayed at in Tokyo. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. You’d think being this close to Kitashinchi’s bar district would mean noise until 3 AM, but the windows must be decent quality because I barely heard the late-night crowd stumbling home. The staff speaks enough English to handle check-in smoothly, and they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations – not just the tourist traps, but places where you’ll actually see salarymen unwinding after work.

Here’s the thing about the location that makes this place work: you’re close enough to everything that matters without being stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. Hanshin and Umeda department stores are about a ten-minute walk if you need to grab anything, and there’s a convenience store literally across the street (which saved me more than once when I realized I forgot phone chargers). The breakfast isn’t anything special – standard Japanese business hotel fare – but there’s this little coffee shop two blocks down called… well, I can’t remember the name, but it’s got a blue sign and makes the kind of coffee that actually wakes you up. Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy place you’ll ever stay, and if you need a concierge and room service, go somewhere else. But if you want a clean, comfortable base for exploring Osaka without paying premium prices for location, The Rise gets it done. The 7.8 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

Best attractions in Osaka range from the majestic Osaka Castle to the bustling Dotonbori district and elegant temples overlooking the historic Sumiyoshi Taisha shrine and Shinsaibashi shopping area.

Reviews of The Rise Osaka Kitashinchi

  • Welch from Australia – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

It was stylish and modern. It was always clean. It had a good central location in the middle of Osaka. Getting anywhere was an absolute breeze combined with Japanese public transport. Staff are always so friendly.

What could be improved: The rooms were a bit tiny and there is no clothes line, so ensure you dry your laundry properly 🙂

  • Jana from Czech Republic – 27 May 2025 (9/10)

Hotel is nice. Just the room and bed was too small for 2ppl. We expected that, we stayed for one night only, but still- it wasnt comfortable at all. All other hotel stuff were good, including very nice staff.

What could be improved: Just the 11m2 rooms are too small.

  • Rodney from Singapore – 20 May 2025 (8/10)

    Location was great.

What could be improved: The room i had was small but the room size was stated in the booking details.

  • Rihari from New Zealand – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

Located a short walk from Yodoyabashi station this lovely stay provided all the necessities required after a long day out in Osaka.
Staff were friendly and helpful and provided a fine dining breakfast experience.

What could be improved: Room is compact, but it is to be expected when in Japan

  • Haylee from Australia – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

The property was in a nice location and the staff were super friendly

What could be improved: The beds were extremely hard.

  • Warren from Australia – 10 May 2025 (7/10)

    Location is great.

What could be improved: The beds ARE LIKE ROCKS

  • Mateusz from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (7/10)

Affordable and close to many food places

What could be improved: Rooms are absolutely tiny. Light at the front of the room wouldn’t switch off

  • Nicola from Spain – 9 May 2025 (8/10)

Room was practical, quite small but as we only had hand luggage it was fine. Great location for getting into the centre, metro stop a short walk away.

What could be improved: Breakfast was really expensive compared to other hotels we had stayed in

  • Rex from Australia – 7 May 2025 (8/10)

    Great location & good staff.

What could be improved: Very, very small room.

  • Brinkhuis from Germany – 2 May 2025 (9/10)

We had an interconnected double room (so there was a door in between the 2 rooms) for my husband and me, and our 2 kids. The rooms were new, clean and was although small, very smartly build. You can open the windows, which I prefer to air-conditioning, and there was filtered water available in the hallway, plus coffee and tea (and more) at the reception. The location was good, not far from several stations and we could walk into town too.
