Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Tanimachi Namba East43, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked away on a quieter stretch in Nippombashi, and from the outside it looks like, well, just another mid-rise building in Osaka. But here’s the thing about this place that caught me off guard: it punches way above its weight class for a 3-star spot.

The location is actually pretty clever if you know Osaka at all. You’re technically in Namba, but you’re on the eastern edge where things get a bit more residential and way less touristy. I mean, you can still walk to Dotonbori in about 15 minutes if you want the full chaos experience, but when you come back at night, you’re not dealing with drunk salarymen stumbling around outside your window. The nearest station is Nippombashi – not the most glamorous stop, but honestly, it connects you everywhere you need to go, and there’s this whole electronics district vibe happening around there that’s pretty fun to explore. Plus, you know how Osaka can get expensive fast? This area has some seriously good cheap eats that haven’t been discovered by every travel blogger yet.

What really surprised me about the hotel itself was how they managed to make everything feel fresh and thoughtful without going overboard. The lobby’s small but it doesn’t feel cramped, and the staff – they actually seem to care about getting things right rather than just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit drama or confusing key card situations. The rooms are compact (this is Japan, after all), but they’ve clearly put thought into the layout. Everything has its place, the bed is legitimately comfortable, and the bathroom – honestly, it’s one of those Japanese setups that makes you wonder why the rest of the world hasn’t figured this out yet. Good water pressure, heated toilet seat, the works.

Here’s what I really appreciated though: the building stays pretty quiet even though you’re in the middle of a major city. I’m someone who usually travels with earplugs because I’m paranoid about noise, but I didn’t need them here. Maybe it’s the slightly off-the-beaten-path location, or maybe they just built it right, but you can actually sleep. And in the morning, there’s a convenience store literally across the street – not some fancy hotel breakfast situation, but sometimes you just want coffee and a rice ball without the production, you know?

The 9.1 rating makes total sense to me because this place delivers on what matters: clean, comfortable, well-located, and the staff knows what they’re doing. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Osaka, but for the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to beat. If you’re the kind of traveler who wants to be near the action but not drowning in it, and you’d rather spend your money on amazing food and experiences instead of paying extra for marble countertops you’ll barely notice, this is your spot.

  Large apartment. Clean and comfortable. Washing machine was great to have while travelling. Detailed directions in the apartment manual as to how things work. Don’t listen to the review about no hot water. That guest just didn’t take the time to read how to turn it on.
  The location is a bit away from the action but with train stations close by it was not an issue. Quiet at night and the bed was huge and comfortable. 7-Eleven was a couple minutes away.

  – In-room laundry. So convenient!
  – The warm-air system in the bathroom, it's so interesting and helps to dry the clothes quickly!
  – Strong shower pressure.
  – Good space for 2 , will be too cramp for 4 ( our room sleeps 4)
  – Short walking distance to nearest metro station.
  – Staff were quick in response and replacing the broken hairdryer.
  
  What could be improved: Would suggest take away 1 double bed, let it be spacious for 2.

  Very nice apartment. There is a laundry machine that also dries, the bath is very nice and the kitchen is already with everything you need.

  What could be improved: You hear everything from the street. Every car and motorcycle. Especially the ambulances in the middle of the night.

  Great location. Close to everything and stations.
  The apartment is nice and new compared to many places else I used to stay.
  There are many maid cafes in the area however it is not is offensive if you dont think too much.

  What could be improved: The hotel is close to the main road and a hospital. Some noise may be expected. If you are sensitive to noise while sleeping, then maybe a problem.
