TAKUTO STAY SAKAISUJI-HOMMACHI Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about TAKUTO STAY SAKAISUJI-HOMMACHI – it’s one of those places that quietly does everything right without making a big fuss about it. Tucked away on Kawaramachi street in Chuo-ku, you’re actually in this perfect sweet spot where you can walk to the main business district without dealing with all the tourist chaos around Dotonbori. I mean, you’re close enough to hit up the famous spots when you want to, but far enough away that you can actually get some sleep at night.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve nailed that balance between modern functionality and, well, not trying too hard to be fancy. The rooms have this clean, minimalist vibe that feels very Japanese without being all theme-park about it. You know what I appreciated? The attention to small details – proper blackout curtains (seriously, they work), enough outlets near the bed for all your devices, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you wonder why other hotels can’t figure this out. The staff operates with that efficient Japanese hospitality where they anticipate what you need before you even ask for it. Check-in was smooth as butter, and they actually gave me useful recommendations for local spots instead of just handing over a generic tourist map.

Here’s the thing about the location – you’re a stone’s throw from Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station, which honestly makes getting around Osaka ridiculously easy. But more importantly, you’re in this area where actual Osaka residents live and work, so the restaurant scene around here is legit. There’s this tiny ramen place about two blocks away that doesn’t have an English menu but serves some of the best tonkotsu I’ve had outside of Fukuoka. The convenience stores are right there when you need them (and trust me, you’ll need them), and there’s something oddly comforting about hearing the morning commuter bustle instead of drunk tourists at 3 AM. Is it perfect? Well, the rooms aren’t huge – but that’s pretty standard for Japan, and they’ve maximized the space smartly. The building itself is relatively new, so you don’t get those charming old-hotel quirks, but you also don’t get mysterious stains or questionable plumbing. For a 3-star place with a 7.9 rating, it honestly punches above its weight class. If you’re looking for a reliable base to explore Osaka without breaking the bank or compromising on cleanliness and location, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Reviews of TAKUTO STAY SAKAISUJI-HOMMACHI

  • Daphne from New Zealand – 14 June 2025 (7/10)

    Good size

What could be improved: We arrived a little early and there was no accommodating us so we sat outside and waited. I feel like someone could have helped.

  • Coleman from Australia – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

Great central location, well explained pre-check in info.
The washing machine and plentiful hangers made catching up laundry a breeze after we had been on the road for a week. The remainder of the apartment facilities made it feel much more like a stay than a hotel.

What could be improved: I would have liked a smart TV/Chromecast feature. Other than that I have absolutely no criticisms!

  • Kailee from United States – 21 April 2025 (9/10)

The room was huge and had a nice balcony! We were shocked by the amount of space we had. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathroom had great amenities. We would in a good location where we could walk to restaurants and attractions but it was still a "quiet" family friendly neighborhood.

What could be improved: There was no staff. Check in was very frustrating because it was on an ipad that was a little glitchy. If you didn't carefully read every single email they sent prior to your check in, it is very confusing and frustrating, especially after a long travel day.

  • عبدالله from United Arab Emirates – 10 April 2025 (8/10)

The size of the apartment was good

What could be improved: The check out time it's so early at 10 AM and the staff he try to open the room to kick us out early and every 5 minutes he come back to check if we leave or not, all things was good only the check out time and the staff

  • Sarah from Australia – 25 February 2025 (8/10)

Good location, nice kitchen and bathroom ammenities, easy checkin and key system, friendly communication with staff

What could be improved: A bit of a tight space for 6 people

  • Gary from Australia – 27 January 2025 (8/10)

Very clean well layed out appartment.
Fridge & more importantly a washing machine

What could be improved: The security was a right pain in the Butt! Have to supply passport details multiple times & they take a facial recognition image of you just to get in the first door! They were no staff to either like or dislike as there simply wasn’t anyone on site.
Email is good & reasonable time on response to questions. No info about area around accommodation.

  • Melissa from Australia – 28 December 2024 (9/10)

Easy location and close to travel points

What could be improved: Clean, tidy and very comfortable

  • Loraine from United States – 7 November 2024 (8/10)

We did not participate in the breakfast. It would have been nice to have a bit bigger room for our family of 5. Beds were very comfortable

What could be improved: If your kids are more like adults like 2 of my 3 teenagers, I would suggest maybe getting 2 rooms.

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 13 August 2024 (8/10)

Had everything we needed and relatively spacious for Japan. Great cafe on the first floor for breakfast – loved the French toast! Very helpful staff

What could be improved: No bedside tables and also a little walk to the subway

  • Paul from Australia – 26 July 2024 (9/10)

    Clean good aircon

What could be improved: Aircin filter hairy with dust just needs removing dust off then be perfect stay
