Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place with such a long name, but Summit Villa turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code. It’s tucked away in Nakazakicho – and yes, you really can walk to the station in about three minutes, though I’d give yourself five if you’re dragging luggage because the streets here are narrow and charming in that old Osaka way.

The moment you step inside, you get why they emphasize the 100 square meters – this place is genuinely spacious by Japanese standards. I mean, you could actually open your suitcase without having to move furniture around, which is saying something. It’s a converted machiya (traditional townhouse), so you’ve got these lovely wooden details and that particular smell of old wood that somehow feels both nostalgic and clean. The layout flows really nicely across the third floor, with proper separation between sleeping and living areas. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night – you’re in the heart of Osaka but the traditional construction seems to buffer a lot of the city noise.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know Osaka at all. You’re basically planted between two worlds: the historic, artsy vibe of Nakazakicho with its little galleries and coffee shops (there’s this tiny curry place called Garaku about two blocks away that’s absolutely worth finding), and then Umeda’s massive shopping and business district is just a quick train hop away. The walk to Osaka Station takes maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind walking, or you can catch the train from Nakazakicho Station – though honestly, I found myself walking most places because the neighborhood is so interesting to explore. Parking isn’t really a thing here, which is fine because you don’t need a car, but worth knowing if you’re planning to rent one. The check-in process was smooth enough, though it’s all done remotely through an app, which some people love and others find a bit impersonal. I was fine with it, but my parents probably would’ve preferred talking to an actual person. One small thing – the stairs up to the third floor are fairly steep, so if you have mobility concerns, that’s worth considering. But really, for the space, the location, and that authentic machiya experience without sacrificing modern comfort, it’s pretty hard to beat. You end up feeling like a temporary local rather than just another tourist, which is exactly what you want in a place like Osaka.

  Location was fantastic. Quiet but in the centre of a beautiful boutique low scale area with artists and makers and cafes in abundance. Not mainstream shops.

  I had some problems with my travel (my fault) and the staff really helped me out. The place is beautiful, clean, and near many good restaurants.

  The property is spacious for even 8 adults. Comfortable and clean space. Toiletries used and given were high quality. With washing machine and a lot of space to hang your clothes. Proper dining and cooking area also is there. Very accessible to convenient store, subway or even JR line. With reasonable price and a very nice host. We will come back here for sure.

  Great house in a cool neighbourhood near Umeda station. Well set up kitchen and spacious rooms.

  The location is at a small alley. There are quite a few cafes and pet shop nearby. The scenery is quite nice at the small valleys. The home stay is near to train station. This home stay come with 3 floors so it is very spacious for a family of 4 like us. It has basic kitchen facilities, microwave, and washing machine. The air conditioner in bedrooms are working well and keep us warm in the winter season.
  
  What could be improved: It can be quite noisy at times in night. I can even hear neighbor shout 1 time. The air conditioner in living room (ground floor) is working but still can feel quite cold. I guess the ground floor need more air conditioner to keep us warm.

  Location was great and love the neighbourhood with plenty of character like cute restaurant, coffee shops and shops.
  The place is complete with kitchen and laundry amenities and toilet in each floor are big plus!
  
  What could be improved: It's not what we don't like, it seem there is a mixed up with the manual in the house are totally different with what we had in the house and no wifi password to be found. Perhaps update/check the house manual folder as maybe mixed up with other houses. Also maybe best to explain the location of the safe lock box more detail. BUT the host is super quick to response and we are checking in ok.

  Location, space and communication were all good, basic kitchen (as in all Japan) Confusion with payment but all sorted out 🙂 Accidentally set fire alarm off and all neighbors and tenant were fantastic in assisting us with how to turn it off :\

  Big space for traveling in group. Host is helpful. The location is in residential area, so it quiet and safe.
