This place sits right in the heart of Haginochaya, which honestly, most tourists skip right over on their way to the flashier parts of Osaka. But that’s exactly why I ended up loving it here.

The location is pretty brilliant if you actually think about it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Shin-Imamiya Station, which means you can hop on the JR loop line and be in Namba or Tennoji before you’ve even finished your morning coffee. The neighborhood itself has this authentic, lived-in feel – there’s a bunch of local izakayas tucked into the side streets, and I stumbled across this tiny ramen shop around the corner that absolutely nobody talks about online but serves some of the best tonkotsu I had in the city. The area gets a bit of a rough reputation sometimes, but honestly, I walked around at all hours and never felt anything but welcomed by the locals.

The hotel itself punches way above its three-star rating – I mean, a 9 out of 10 doesn’t happen by accident. The rooms are compact (this is Japan, after all), but everything’s been thought through really well. The bed was actually comfortable, which… let’s be real, isn’t always a given at this price point. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays despite being so close to the train lines – whoever designed this place knew what they were doing with the soundproofing. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke enough English to help out, and the whole vibe was just refreshingly straightforward. No pretense, no overselling, just good hospitality. The building’s got this clean, modern look that fits right into the neighborhood without trying to show off. And here’s something practical – there’s actually decent luggage storage space in the lobby if you need to explore before check-in, which saved me when I arrived stupidly early after a red-eye flight. If you’re looking for a base that’s genuinely connected to local Osaka life rather than the tourist bubble, this spot delivers without any of the usual budget hotel compromises that make you question your life choices.

  I loved how spacious the room was, and how high quality the build of the space was. It felt very luxury despite the amazing deal of a price.

  I really liked having my own little apartment for a change from capsule hotels. I liked having a washing machine. I liked having control of the temperature for sleeping. My apartment had a little balcony that received morning sun. The contactless check-in process was easier than it seemed at first.
  
  What could be improved: I wish I could have controlled the light brightness in the bedroom. It was very bright and white light. I like to make it dim and warm light at night before going to bed. It was not a problem, just preference.

  Although the receptionist didn’t speak English, he was so kind to use a translator to give us all instructions.

  The accommodation is spacious and very clean. The accommodation is close to Shinsekai Market, Tennoji Zoo and Mega Donki. It is close to Debustuen-Mae Station, both Exit 4 and 9. The exit 4 is very cute. It is decorated to match Tennoji Zoo. If you will use the train, we recommend using Exit 4 because Exit 9 is a bit adjective. There is a bar downstairs. The owner and the bar owner are very good.

  The room was big and furnished with new and adequate facilities and amenities. Walking a few minutes to 2 train lines and 2 subway lines. The owner was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The place is excellent
  
  What could be improved: Because it is located in the Nishinari area, locals consider it a little unsafe at night. However, we did not encounter any unpleasant experiences during our 11-day stay in the area.

  the facility is a stone throw away from train stations, mega donki(best donki ive been), shinzekai, tennoji zoo/park,tennoji commercial areas.
  
  Very spacious place and you’ll love the bathroom and toilet.
  
  What could be improved: Very minor concerns only
  1. non english speaking staff but they have a gadget translator so that bridges the gap.
  2. our room (301) is very spacious and with a big cabinet but theres no shelvings that you can put the clothes on(might be a japanes thing) so we ended up putting on the extra bed because theres a lot of beds.
  3. the four beds in the main room doesn’t have a bed topper like on the other bed on the second room which make it a little comfy but still generally comfortable.

  Overall, Residence Saku was a great value—highly recommended for travelers who want **convenience, comfort, and accessibility in Osaka!
  
  What could be improved: While the location is super close to the subway, Exit 4 has stairs only—no escalator or elevator.
  – Carrying heavy luggage up/down can be a hassle, especially for travelers with big suitcases or mobility concerns.
  
  Also, I disagree with some reviews calling the neighbourhood shady. I just think some of the residents are from lower income background and some people might find that intimidating, I dunno… the area is safe.

  Fantastic apartment style room. Great size and Fair price.
  Very clean, Advanced Bathtub. Overall brilliant accommodation, would have stayed longer if I could.
  Also very close to both Shinsekai and Denden town, which are my favourite places in Osaka.
