RIHGA PLACE HIGOBASHI Overview

So I stumbled across RIHGA PLACE HIGOBASHI during one of those frantic last-minute booking sessions, and honestly? It turned out way better than I expected for a 4-star place in Osaka. The thing is, it’s tucked away in this quieter pocket of Nishi-ku on Edobori street – you know, away from all the tourist chaos but still close enough that you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere.

What really struck me about this place is how it feels more like a proper hotel than those cramped business hotels you usually find at this price point. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on, nothing flashy but you can tell they put thought into it. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – the staff actually spoke decent English, which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given. My room was on the 8th floor and honestly bigger than I anticipated, with one of those massive windows that Japanese hotels sometimes surprise you with. You can actually see glimpses of the Dojima River if you crane your neck a bit, though I wouldn’t call it a river view room by any stretch.

Here’s what I appreciated most though – the location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. You’re a solid 7-minute walk to Higobashi Station, which connects you straight to Umeda without the usual crowds. And there’s this little konbini right around the corner that becomes your lifeline for late-night snacks and morning coffee. The neighborhood has that authentic Osaka vibe where you’ll see salarymen ducking into tiny yakitori joints after work, but it’s not so local that you feel completely out of place as a tourist. I mean, you’re still within reasonable walking distance of Dotonbori if you don’t mind a 15-minute stroll – though honestly, taking the train is easier with all your shopping bags. The hotel itself runs pretty quietly, which I wasn’t expecting given its size. No slamming doors at 2 AM or elevator dings echoing through the halls. Breakfast was decent – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but they had both Western and Japanese options, and the coffee was actually drinkable. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me; it’s solidly good without being exceptional, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more focused on exploring the city than lounging around your hotel.

To explore Osaka during the comfortable autumn months from September to November, tourists need early planning as this vibrant metropolis draws visitors eager to discover its rich merchant heritage and legendary takoyaki vendors.

Reviews of RIHGA PLACE HIGOBASHI

  • Jai from Australia – 14 February 2025 (7/10)

Great location and good price for a night or two

What could be improved: The pillows were terrible

  • Rhys from New Zealand – 3 January 2025 (8/10)

I’ve stayed here many times its a good price and location is handy to subway and yet still reasonably quiet

What could be improved: Rooms a little small but thats Japan

  • Delia from Norway – 5 December 2024 (8/10)

Clean and easy, great location close to subway stops

  • Siyana from Germany – 2 October 2024 (7/10)

    The place was very clean!

What could be improved: There were no bins for recycling cans/bottles and there is no common area to enjoy if you are traveling with friends and staying in separate rooms. Breakfast times (07:30-09:00) was not great. They had a laundry room but the drying program was not really drying, so we had to hang our clothes in our room.

  • Han from China – 15 July 2024 (8/10)

The property is close to two metro stations – one right below, and another one two blocks away. These two metro lines effectively connects you with all of Osaka, including Umeda, Namba, and Shinsaibashi. The hotel is cozy, staff very welcoming.

What could be improved: The room size may be a bit small, yet still acceptable comparing against typical Japanese hotel room size. The hotel room can use a bit dusting as dust is visible in some places, yet none of a big deal.

  • Jian from China – 9 July 2024 (8/10)

air condition especially at night, location

What could be improved: room a little bit small

  • John from Canada – 24 June 2024 (9/10)

Nice clean hotel with nice staff. Near metro. Easy access to train. I enjoyed the breakfast.

What could be improved: No complaints.

  • Stephanie from Germany – 1 January 2024 (9/10)

Very close to subway (3 mins). 7/11 around the corner. Karaoke in walking distance (~800m). Very friendly staff at reception. Late check-out (14:00) and early checkin possible.

    What could be improved: –

  • Mallory from United States – 14 August 2023 (9/10)

I liked the location. The rooms were very nice for the price I paid. It was affordable and reasonable. Basically just a great deal overall.

What could be improved: I don't think I disliked anything. It's a good location. The price was good. No complaints from me.

  • Marjorie from Japan – 18 June 2023 (8/10)

The staff in the breakfast lounge was alone yet very accommodating. There were various juices.

What could be improved: It would be better if they have some fish in the menu.
