Plaza In Miyakojima hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Plaza In Miyakojima? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Miyakojima Hondori – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the entrance. The neighborhood’s got this lived-in feel that’s refreshing after dealing with the tourist circus in Dotonbori. You’re actually staying where real Osaka people live and work, which I mean, isn’t that kind of the point?
The hotel itself sits right in that sweet spot between business-focused and actually comfortable. It’s a solid 4-star that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with fancy lobbies or whatever – instead, they’ve focused on getting the basics really right. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully laid out (Japanese hotels know how to maximize space like nobody’s business), and the staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the city. What I appreciated most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still properly in the city. The street doesn’t get much through traffic, so you can actually sleep without earplugs – rare for Osaka, honestly.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: you’re a short walk from Miyakojima Station, sure, but more importantly, you’re in this pocket of the city where you can grab incredible ramen at 11 PM (there’s this tiny place two blocks over that locals line up for) and find actual neighborhood izakayas that don’t have English menus. The morning routine here is something else – watching salarymen grab coffee and pastries from the convenience store downstairs while you’re heading out to explore. It feels authentic in a way that staying in Namba or Umeda just… doesn’t. The 7.5 rating seems about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s genuinely solid and the kind of place you’d book again without hesitation. Plus, getting to the main attractions is easy enough; you’re just not paying tourist-district prices for everything.

Reviews of Plaza In Miyakojima hotel

Charming little hotel in a perfect location – highly recommended!
I stayed here for a few nights and had a very pleasant experience. This is a small, cozy hotel located just a few steps from the metro station and several shops – including tourist-friendly ones like 7-Eleven and Lawson, as well as local discount stores where Japanese people shop (and where prices are much lower!).
Check-in and check-out are self-service, but the receptionist – despite not speaking English – was extremely polite and genuinely helpful, which made a lovely impression. A huge plus: you can drop off your luggage as early as 11:07 a.m. and then return for the room at 4 p.m. – a very practical solution for travelers.
The room was small but had everything I needed. The bathroom was tiny and built into the room, but it was enough for a comfortable stay. Basic toiletries were available, fresh towels were provided daily, and although the room wasn't cleaned during my stay, it wasn't a problem at all. There's even access to a small shared balcony, which was a nice touch.
All in all, a great place to stay – comfortable, well-located, and absolutely worth recommending! 😊Blake from United States – 20 May 2025 (8/10)
Very clean, easy to check in. Great facilities with easy access.
What could be improved: Thin walls, could hear other guests opening up cabinets and such.Garima from India – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

It was clean.
What could be improved: The bathroom is very small for a western taste, be aware of that.Lesley from Australia – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

It was very cheap and actually ok for its price. There were quite enough space in the room. Also it had a kettle, I like when hotels have it. Selfcheck-in was easy.
What could be improved: The emergency door in the room is a bit creepy (it’s just one more door that you shouldn’t open and I was afraid that someone can come through it from outside). In the last day we had some problems with hot water (but it was okay in the previous days). The bathroom is a bit small.Emily from United Kingdom – 7 March 2025 (9/10)
– clean rooms, small but do the job fine.
– good location near train station
– easy check in
What could be improved: – bathroom a little small.Pei from Taiwan – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
Good location, clean room. Cute balcony and tv system
What could be improved: For women, if you are on your menstrual cycle, there’s no trash can in the toilet to throw away sanitary products. I have to warp in tissues and walk to common area to throw it awayVan from Japan – 1 February 2025 (7/10)
The bed was super comfy.
What could be improved: It was a bit far from all the action, in my opinion.Nik from Malaysia – 19 November 2024 (8/10)
I’ll try to be as informative as possible.
1) Location:
– I would say the location is okay. It’s only max 10 minutes of walking from the nearest station (Miyakojima, Tanimachi Line). You just have to walk straight and you’ll find the sign with that name. There are a lot of food areas around here. McDonald’s and Family Mart are nearby the station entrance.
2. Check-in:
– Check in was rather easy. Once you booked the hotel, you’ll receive 6-digit codes for you to manually check-in. When you came inside to the lobby, you’ll need to check in using the tab they provided and they’ll give you room key number (take picture of it! It’s a single paper receipt)
3. Service:
– They provided new towels and toothbrush kit every afternoon. So don’t worry about bringing the towels. The lady on the counter is very helpful, when she’s around. But otherwise, you may need to contact through the booking agency’s message. They respond rather quick.
4. Facilities:
– There is an elevator (although I must warn you, it’s rather small, enough for one Caucasian with luggages. But I can assure it’s clean.
– In the room, they provided electrical kettle, hairdryer, teas and others.
– Room is clean, beds are clean, bathroom is clean
What could be improved: Okay, for this one is subjective, because I was solo traveling, but points to consider:
1) Size:
– The room and bathroom (and elevator) are quite small. If you come in two persons, you may need to do some math on how would you like to organize your luggages in the room. Bathroom can be claustrophobic, because you’ll bump into the wall if you take a shower aggressively.
2) Location:
– While the hotel is at a strategic location, bear in mind that it can be quiet when it’s near midnight. Although, there are lights from street lights and restaurants. Not that I feel I was in danger tho, but thought I should mention it out.
One thing that I feel uncomfortable is that:
– There is no socket near to your beds, they’re located at the TV table.
