Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first booked PG Kuromon – I mean, it’s a 3-star place in one of Osaka’s busiest districts, so I figured it’d be pretty basic. But you know what? This little spot on Kozu street actually surprised me in all the right ways. The moment you step inside, there’s this clean, almost minimalist vibe that feels distinctly Japanese without trying too hard. The lobby’s compact but thoughtfully designed, and the staff – well, they genuinely seem to care about getting you sorted properly.

What really won me over was the location, though not in the way you’d expect. Sure, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Kuromon Ichiba Market (which, by the way, gets absolutely packed by 10 AM, so hit it early if you want to actually move around), but it’s tucked just far enough off the main drag that you don’t get the constant stream of tourists wandering past your window. I stayed on the third floor and could actually sleep in – rare for this part of Chuo-ku. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re small, let’s be honest, but everything’s been thought through. The bed’s surprisingly comfortable, there’s enough space to open your suitcase without doing gymnastics, and the bathroom actually has decent water pressure. You can hear the occasional delivery truck in the early morning, but nothing that’ll ruin your trip.

Here’s the thing that really sets PG Kuromon apart from other budget options in the area – they’ve nailed the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, there are enough outlets near the bed for your devices, and they stock the tiny fridge daily. Plus, and I can’t stress this enough, the elevators work quickly – sounds silly, but when you’re coming back tired after a full day exploring Dotonbori or hitting up the castle, those extra two minutes waiting for a slow lift really add up. The front desk keeps maps that show you the good ramen spots locals actually go to (there’s this incredible tonkotsu place about six blocks south that’s not in any guidebook), and they’ll store your luggage without making you feel like you’re asking for a huge favor. I mean, the 8.8 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it does what it promises really, really well.

  Everything was good, super clean. Clear self check-in instructions. Very nice bathroom. We really enjoyed the balcony.

  Apartment so clean and close to big market where you can have food , shopping just 5 miniutes walk , staff really nice and friendly

  It was in a good location, a lot of space and very clean.

  What could be improved: Staffs at lobby were a bit weird and no one was really smiling at all. Barely say hello or anything and just do their job without any conversation. But ladies who cleans the room were so kind and smiled!

  Very clean, have everything needed in the kitchen for making tea, cooking and warming up food. Walking distance to train station and Kuromon Market.

  There's dryer in the bathroom, washing machine, fridge, microwave, they also provide the branded shampoo, body shampoo, you can save your luggage, can do laundry everyday, very spacious. Really love it

  The place is near the Nipponbashi station which is a few minute walk to the hotel. Konbini and grocery store are also accessible. They have a big room, toilet and shower area are separated which we really like.
