I’ll be honest – when I first booked the Ostay Shin-Osaka Hotel Apartment, I was mostly thinking about the proximity to the station. You know how it is with Osaka accommodation, you’re either paying through the nose for something central or stuck way out in the suburbs. But this place on Higashinakajima street actually surprised me in ways I wasn’t expecting.

The building itself sits in this sort of residential-commercial mix that’s so typically Osaka – you’ve got convenience stores and small restaurants on the ground floors, then these newer apartment buildings rising up between older houses. It’s about a seven-minute walk to Shin-Osaka Station (I timed it, naturally), but here’s what the booking sites don’t tell you: you’re also ridiculously close to Higashinakajima-Nanpo Station on the Osaka Metro. I mean, we’re talking two minutes on foot, which honestly ended up being more useful for getting around the city than the shinkansen station most days. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – you’ll hear kids playing in the small park nearby in the evenings, and there’s always someone wheeling their bicycle past your window, but it’s never intrusive noise.

What really won me over was how the place actually functions as an apartment rather than just a hotel room with a kitchenette slapped in. The washing machine (a proper one, not some tiny thing) sits in the bathroom like you’d find in any Japanese home, and the kitchen space is genuinely usable – I found myself cooking simple meals instead of eating out every night, which honestly saved me a fortune. The staff keeps things minimal but efficient; check-in was smooth, and they seem to understand that most guests here are either business travelers or people like me who prefer having a bit more space and independence. There’s this small Lawson about thirty seconds away where I’d grab coffee every morning, and a surprisingly good ramen shop two blocks over that doesn’t see many tourists – the kind of place where the owner nods at you after the third visit. The building’s security is solid without being fussy, and the rooms themselves are quiet even though you’re right in the middle of everything. I stayed during Golden Week (probably not my smartest planning), but even then the area didn’t feel chaotic like some parts of the city do during busy periods. If you’re the type who likes having a proper base to return to rather than just a place to crash, this spot really delivers on that front.

  The location is great! Very close to the station, only a 300m walk. The room is spacious and very clean. We loved it here. Lots of stores downstairs too.

  It's a short walk from the station. The room was clean and good communication from the host. I had some trouble opening the door and I had to contact the host for help. They responded right away. The shower room has a dryer option which was extremely helpful after a day of walking in hot and humid weather.

  I loved the proximity of this place to the Shin Osaka station. There are a few convenience stores nearby as well. I love that there was a microwave, a stove, a washer, and a larger fridge with a freezer. The place was quite spacy, clean, and comfortable. The host was very quick at responding to questions. I would stay here again on my next trip to Osaka. The price was very reasonable as well. I loved the evening view from my balcony area, which I could enjoy the air outside. I highly recommend others to stay here as well.

  The location is so convenient, very close to Shin-Osaka station. A konbini is nearby. The appartment was fantastic, great infrastructure and fully equipped, nothing was missing.
  
  What could be improved: During the day it is quite noisy from the trains and incoming airplanes (directly approaching the airport above the house). But it is quiet during the night.

  Stayed at this apartment in Shin Osaka and it was a great choice, especially for a longer stay. The place was clean, modern, and had everything we needed — including a small but fully equipped kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge, and basic utensils.
  Having the kitchen was super convenient. We were able to cook simple meals, which helped save money and gave us a break from eating out every day. All the convenience stores (Family Mart, 711, Lawson) are nearby, so getting groceries was easy, however Indian groceries are not available.
  The location was great – close to Shin Osaka station. The staff were helpful and responsive through the app. Wi-Fi was strong, and there was even a laundry machine in the room, which was a big plus.
  I highly recommend this type of stay if you’re looking for more flexibility and a homey vibe while in Osaka!
  
  What could be improved: The only downside was, there were very few utensils, so it was a bit limiting for cooking anything more than the basics.

  2min away from the local and the bullet train , which is very convenient.
  The apartment was very spacious and clean .
  The host is also very welcoming and helped us with all our needs .

  What could be improved: There wasn’t much option to eat around the apartment area and also the Lawson next to the apartment isn’t the best.

  Lovely spacious apartment and very close to ShinOsaka station. Lots of great restaurants in next street. It was good to have washing machine. Easy instructions to get in.
