Osaka Moriguchi Plaza Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Osaka Moriguchi Plaza Hotel – it’s one of those places that grows on you once you figure out what it’s actually about. When I first pulled up to the building on Yagumohigashimachi, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot in what’s basically a residential area, but that’s sort of the point. You’re not staying in touristy Dotonbori or bustling Namba here – you’re getting a slice of real Osaka life, where locals actually live and work.
The thing about Moriguchi is that it’s properly connected without being chaotic. I mean, you can hop on the Keihan Main Line at Moriguchi station and be in central Osaka in about 20 minutes, or take the Osaka Metro to wherever you need to go. But here’s what the hotel booking sites don’t tell you – the evening walk back from the station is actually pretty nice, especially if you stop at one of the small yakitori joints along the way. The hotel itself sits in this quiet pocket where you’ll hear the occasional train but nothing that’ll keep you up at night (well, unless you’re a really light sleeper). The staff speaks decent English, though they’re much more comfortable in Japanese – but honestly, they’re so genuinely helpful that language barriers don’t really matter.
What surprised me most was how the place handles the basics really well without trying to be fancy about it. The rooms are clean and functional – think business hotel vibes but with a bit more personality. The beds are firm (very Japanese), the air conditioning actually works properly, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. You know what I appreciated? The shower has proper water pressure, which isn’t always a given in older Japanese hotels. Breakfast is simple but decent – nothing Instagram-worthy, just solid Japanese and Western options that’ll fuel your day. The real win here is the value proposition – you’re paying way less than you would for comparable comfort in central Osaka, and you’re getting an authentic neighborhood experience as a bonus. If you’re the type who likes exploring beyond the main tourist circuits and doesn’t mind a short commute to the big attractions, this place makes a lot of sense.

Reviews of Osaka Moriguchi Plaza Hotel
Suvi from Finland – 21 May 2023 (7/10)
Very good breakfast.
What could be improved: Littlebit old style hotel. It was quite far from the Osaka centrum.Serban from Romania – 23 January 2023 (8/10)
The prices are fair for what it offers. The included breakfast is good and varied. The room and bathroom were clean.
What could be improved: The location is a bit far from the center. No room service throughout our stay.Eric from Japan – 29 September 2022 (6/10)
Very close to train station and AEON shopping mall.
What could be improved: Hotel itself is next to a highway and lower floor rooms are very noisy. Upper floor rooms windows do not open so no fresh air.Yuko from United States – 9 August 2023 (8/10)
Excellent location, clean, friendly staff, great free breakfast!
Liam from Japan – 23 July 2023 (9/10)
Location was excellent. I travelled to see a soccer game at Panasonic Stadium Suita. With the monorail, the stadium was less than 30 minutes from the hotel.
What could be improved: breakfast was a little bland, having the airconditioner directly overhead when in bed was a little uncomfortable.Siti from Malaysia – 8 May 2023 (9/10)

I stayed here for 5 nights and really liked it. The hotel is very good value for money and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and professional, although I didn’t meet anyone who spoke English. Breakfast is also good with lots of things available. The location of the hotel is a little bit far from the centre of Osaka but there is Dainichi subway station a very short distance away from where you can get to central Osaka in around 20 minutes. Everywhere was very clean and nice. I would stay again if I returned to Osaka.
What could be improved: The bathroom was a little bit cramped and outdated but it was still perfectly adequate for my stay and I didn’t have any problems.Kar from Singapore – 10 August 2023 (9/10)
Location is close to Dainichi Station which connects to both JR and Osaka Loop Metro, breakfast is simple but elegant, few convenience shop within walking distance, and front desk that is able to speak simple English.
What could be improved: I didn't get any room cleaning during my stay there (not sure why?) and the toilet was quite small.Remy from United States – 13 October 2024 (1/10)
There's an Aeon mall across the street, and there are many convenience stores nearby. I accidentally booked a smoking room, and the young man was able to get me a non-smoking room. Excellent customer service from staff. Cold A/C.
What could be improved: The hotel says they have parking but only have 9-10 spaces, and all were already reserved. I had to find paid parking nearby and haul my luggage a block over. The rooms face the expressway, and the noise is loud. I was unable to get sleep because of this. The hotel had heavy metal doors and outdated locks, and the bathroom was yellow. The rooms were old and outdated. They give you one pillow that has beads in it. I found this weird and uncomfortable. The television was also small. I left the hotel three days early and went back to Nagoya at a quieter, modern hotel with free parking and loads of spaces available.Bart from United States – 12 December 2023 (1/10)
The location is walking distance from Panasonic where I need to be for business and the Panasonic staff also stayed at the same hotel so that was convenient.
What could be improved: The room smells like mold and the property is located right next to a freeway and near rial tracks so road noise all night long. Management is aware of the smell, since they supply "air freshener", but this only lasts briefly before the smell reappears. It is likely due to poor watertightness around the bathtub and water leaks in cracks between the wall and the bathtub never drying out properly.
