Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about Nao’s House? The name makes it sound like you’re crashing at someone’s apartment, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place work so well. It’s this whole house rental tucked away in Nishikujo – and I mean properly tucked away, not just off some busy street. When I first walked up to 1-10-18, I actually wondered if I had the right address because it felt more like a residential neighborhood than hotel territory.
The thing about staying here is you get this authentic slice of Osaka life that most tourists completely miss. Nishikujo isn’t flashy – it’s where actual people live and work, with tiny convenience stores and local ramen joints that don’t have English menus. Universal Studios is close enough that you can hear the distant screams from the roller coasters on quiet evenings (which is either charming or slightly unsettling, depending on your perspective). But here’s what the location listings don’t tell you – you’re also perfectly positioned to explore parts of Osaka that feel genuinely local. There’s this incredible takoyaki stand about two blocks over that I stumbled across purely by accident, and the guy running it seemed genuinely surprised to see a foreigner.
The house itself has that slightly worn-in feeling that comes with places people actually live in, not sterile hotel perfection. Everything works fine – the shower has decent pressure, the kitchen has real cooking equipment if you’re into that sort of thing – but it’s the small details that got me. Like how the floors creak just a bit when you walk around at night, or how you can hear your neighbors going about their morning routines. I mean, if you’re looking for soundproof luxury, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Osaka instead of just visiting it, well, that’s different. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that overly formal hotel dance, just practical information and keys that actually work on the first try. With an 8.7 rating, clearly other people have figured out what makes this place special, though it still feels like a bit of a local secret. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which surprised me given how close everything is to the action.

Good place
Very comfortableAshley from United States – 6 January 2025 (9/10)
This was a great find for our family's visit to USJ. It was very spacious with plenty of bedrooms, and the Nintendo games were a fun bonus for our kids. The location is great because it is near the train station and a quick trip to USJ, while the neighborhood is quiet and has a few good restaurants close by. It was a great value to enhance our trip!

Amazing location with the easiest of access to USJ. Great for families and larger groups. Comfortable beds.

This house was sparkling clean, it was really close to the trains, and close to convenient stores and markets.

Location is great and the house is well spaced out!
What could be improved: The neighbors are quite clearly not a fan of this house. The house get’s rented out as max 13 people, so as a group of 10 people we thought it would be great. It’s obviously quite difficult to stay very quiet when 10 people are living together. As we left one evening, we were met with a neighbor taking photos of us even though we were trying to exit the house as quietly as possible. The next evening, whilst having dinner, we got met with a very hangry neighbor at the door telling us we were being too loud. Of course we turned down the volumes immediately but we could tell it’s not the first time they’ve had to ask guests to be quiet and would find any excuse to complain about the noise levels. This is more to make sure if a large group who knows they are not very quiet, I wouldn’t recommend this location, purely out of respect for the neighbors.
Also, Japan is known for being very humid in the summer and the rooms get extremely humid very quickly! The aircons worked a little but the bed’s did feel quite wet throughout the night!Michael from Indonesia – 5 February 2025 (9/10)
Location wise, close to USJ Osaka.
Walking distance to grocery stores and restaurants.
Clean.
Good water pressure and working water heater.
What could be improved: House entrance is not car accessible hence need to plan accordingly for pick up and drop off especially with luggages.Amy from United Kingdom – 2 September 2024 (9/10)
The coziness of the house.

The property in itself was actually a really decent property for the price. It had its share of pros and cons, but overall the property was fairly decent.
What could be improved: The property manager was absolutely shocking. The customer service was horrible.
We had a problem where there was a mistake in the listing and a disclaimer for the properties room management ( 7 people can only use 3 rooms in the property) was never translated into English for us so we were shocked when we were pressure to pay an extra 30AUD per night per room extra we needed.
The property manager commented on me not being Japanese and saying it’s our fault. He tried to pressure me to give a 10 star review in exchange to not pay for a room. I really felt as if the property manager had no consideration at all for the customers and was super rude right from the beginning of the ordeal.
I did end up paying the extra as we needed to have the rooms. Overall the house is a good house, but READ ALL THE SECTIONS ON THE LISTING as the number of rooms you get is based on the number of tenants you have. You will be charged extra if you don’t translate it.
