MIMARU Osaka Namba Station Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Osaka, and MIMARU Namba Station honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how apartment-style hotels can sometimes feel sterile or weird? This one actually gets it right. The moment you walk in, there’s this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t scream “hotel” – it feels more like you’re crashing at a really well-organized friend’s place who happens to have impeccable taste.

The location is what really sold me though. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Namba Station, which sounds obvious given the name, but the beauty is in the details. You can roll out of bed and be on the Midosuji line without that frantic morning rush through confusing underground passages. And here’s something most people don’t realize – you’re actually positioned perfectly between the tourist chaos of Dotonbori and the more authentic local spots along Nipponbashi. Walk five minutes south and you hit the electronics district (think smaller, less overwhelming Akihabara), but head north and you’re in full-on neon river cruise territory.

What I really appreciate is how they’ve thought about the little stuff. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show – they’ve got proper-sized fridges and decent cookware, which honestly saved me a fortune since convenience store food gets old fast. The washing machines are a godsend too, especially if you’re doing that thing where you pack light and plan to shop (guilty as charged). The rooms themselves feel spacious by Japanese standards – I could actually open my suitcase fully without playing furniture Tetris. Though I’ll be honest, if you’re staying during cherry blossom season or Golden Week, book way ahead because this place fills up with families who’ve figured out the same thing I did.

The staff deserves a mention too – they’ve got that perfect balance of helpful without being hovering. Check-in was smooth even with my terrible Japanese, and they actually printed out walking directions to places I mentioned wanting to visit. Small thing, but it matters when you’re jet-lagged and your phone’s dying. The building itself is pretty quiet considering you’re in the heart of Namba – I was expecting way more street noise, but the windows do their job. You’ll hear the occasional drunk salaryman group stumbling by around midnight, but that’s just Osaka being Osaka.

If I’m being completely honest, the 9.1 rating makes total sense. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort or a budget crash pad – it’s just really, really good at being exactly what it is. Perfect for couples who want their own space, families who need room to spread out, or solo travelers who appreciate having a proper base camp. The value is incredible too, especially when you factor in not having to eat every meal out. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’ve already recommended it to three different people planning Osaka trips.

Reviews of MIMARU Osaka Namba Station

  • Una from Singapore – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

The room was good size and well equipped.
Location is good. Service is excellent. I enjoyed the room escape game the most!!

What could be improved: The pillow is too soft for my liking.

  • Yogi from Singapore – 13 June 2025 (9/10)

Location & facilities including the washing machine were very useful.

    What could be improved: None

  • Naviel from United States – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location, great amenities for kids and adults. Lots available in the room and great to have the separate area to hang out with the couch and kitchen area. Bunk beds were a hit with the kids.

What could be improved: Walls are kinda thin, can hear folks walking but not enough to deter from property.

  • Teang from United States – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Family room was perfect for our family of 4. Kitchenette was very helpful and staff very helpful. Wished we could have stayed longer!

    Great location, next to station

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Low from Singapore – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Hotel was great. Only issue was the booking.com interface was limited – unable to change checkout dates without having to cancel the entire booking and redo it again, or email customer service and chase several times.

  • Wilmink from United States – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

Staff was really nice and helpful. Rooms very quiet and comfy. Loved the location – easy to get to everything. Osaka is so fun!

  • Thi from Vietnam – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

The cozy apartment was perfect for our family of six. It’s within walking distance to popular attractions and restaurants. Having two bathrooms was very convenient for us.

  • Jonathan from Australia – 26 May 2025 (9/10)

Excellent games hotel, if you have kids they will spend hours here.

The staff are very friendly and all international and speak english well.

What could be improved: 1) Luggage forwarding – An important thing to keep in mind is that Mimaru’s front desk is closed between 10pm and 7am (next day). So if you are sending luggage from another hotel and the sending hotel needs to confirm your reservation, there is no one available at Mimaru during these hours to confirm your stay. A logistically crucial issue to consider as many hotels in Japan are regulated to confirm reservation before they can send your luggage.

    2) Location – pretty central if you want access to Denden town, Dontonburi, Namba area however keep in mind that Namba area is like a mini Shinjuku and its a bit seedy with maid cafes, sex shops etc. and not the most family friendly area in the world.

  • Beth from Australia – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

The board games & resources for all families, traditional yet comfortable for families with extra room, fun opportunities to engage with games.

What could be improved: The smell in the room

  • Si from United States – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

+ location to busy shopping district

What could be improved: – transportation to hotel is not easy
