Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Love House,” I was a little skeptical. But this place in Nakazaki-cho completely won me over, and honestly, it’s become one of my go-to recommendations for people wanting to experience a different side of Osaka.

The location is what really gets me excited about this spot. You’re right in the heart of Nakazaki-cho, which is this wonderfully preserved pocket of old Osaka that somehow escaped the development boom. I mean, you step outside and you’re surrounded by these charming wooden machiya houses that have been converted into quirky cafes and vintage shops – it’s like stumbling into a secret neighborhood that most tourists never find. The hotel itself fits perfectly into this vibe, occupying what feels like a beautifully restored traditional building. When I first walked in, there was this immediate sense of calm that you just don’t get in the busier hotel districts around Namba or Umeda. The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood inside and out, which is refreshing – they pointed me toward this tiny coffee roastery just two blocks away that I never would have discovered otherwise.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with that authentic Osaka residential feel. The rooms are thoughtfully designed without being fussy, and you know what? The beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given in boutique places like this. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed – very Japanese in their efficiency. I stayed during cherry blossom season (which was admittedly a bit chaotic everywhere else in the city), but this area remained surprisingly peaceful. You can walk to Osaka Station in about fifteen minutes, or catch the subway at Nakazakicho Station literally around the corner, but it feels worlds away from the tourist crowds. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings when locals start filtering into the little bars and eateries – there’s this wonderful sense of community that you rarely experience when you’re staying in a big chain hotel in a commercial district.

Honestly, the 9.7 rating makes complete sense once you spend time here. It’s not trying to be flashy or impress you with marble lobbies and concierge services – instead, it nails all the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The check-in was smooth, the room was spotless, and the whole experience felt genuine rather than performative. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a pool or room service – this is about location, character, and getting a taste of what it’s like to actually live in Osaka for a few days.

  • Andre from Canada – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location near metro stations. Very spacious. Full kitchen should you wish to cook. 2 bathrooms is a plus. Also has 2 separate bedrooms. Huge tv in separate living room.

What could be improved: Dryer would have been a plus but having a washer was great.

  • Nga from Australia – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

Location was good, close to Osaka Metro. Spacious accommodation for a family of five.

What could be improved: Nothing really except perhaps softer pillows.

  • Rose from United Kingdom – 28 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location, vibrant with nice restaurants and shops to explore. Walkable to stations and umeda. The facilties were great and the house was very well appointed. It had an array of amenities and was very comfortable.

What could be improved: Could have more instructions in English e.g. For washing machine or air conditioner.

The second bedroom could have a wardrobe rail or hooks.

  • Samanalie from Australia – 16 July 2024 (10/10)

It’s a new and a very clean house, the owner has provided small amenities like toothbrushes, hair brushes & combs, skin products and even umbrellas which became so handy on rainy days. couple of minutes to metro station, convenience stores, bakery and restaurants. Calm neighbourhood. The house gives you a sense of freedom rather than stuck in a hotel room .

What could be improved: No mirrors in the bedrooms. Full size mirrors in the two rooms would have made getting ready and doing makeup much easier rather than having to go to the ground floor bathroom.

  • Nicole from United States – 23 May 2024 (10/10)

It was great to feel a sense of living in Osaka. The house was beautiful, clean, and new.

What could be improved: I really liked everything, I wish there was a little more sitting space in the living room and maybe a dryer for clothes, but I know hanging laundry is more common in Japan. I really don't have any criticism.

  • Nic from Australia – 5 April 2024 (9/10)

Great location, excellent facilities and space. We loved having a whole apartment to use instead of a tiny hotel room. Have been recommending this place to our friends and would stay again! The host was great with communication and helpful

What could be improved: We initially sent to the neighbours door as the photo looked to be there and the address was the same. Sorry to the neighbour! So make sure you're at the right place. As first timers in Japan some of the facilities confused me but google translate helped a lot. The only thing I would suggest is maybe having a guide book to help newbies work the house out because it's a very smart house. 😊

  • Sven from Australia – 10 February 2025 (9/10)

Spacious home, once heated, was very warm to the middle and top floors. Extremely clean with sufficient kitchen equipment. The host was lovely and very responsive – very caring for guests and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Walking distance from the main train station (about 1.5 km from Osaka Station, or short walk to metro line for a one stop transfer to the main Osaka station).

What could be improved: The bottom floor remained a bit cold, where the shower was. But you are able to heat up the shower room / bathroom well prior with some preparation. Toilet was on a different floor to the bedroom which was a bit difficult for my elderly father-in-law to use during the night.

  • Naomi from Japan – 9 June 2025 (10/10)

    とても綺麗で快適に過ごせました。

What could be improved: 良くないというわけではないのですが、車庫が小さくて車(トヨタ シエンタ)が道路にはみ出してしまったのが気になりました。でも、車庫があるだけで助かりました。

  • Blanca from Spain – 11 May 2025 (10/10)

Todo estaba muy cuidado y limpio

  • Cornelia from Germany – 8 November 2023 (10/10)

    Gute Lage.Sehr Modern.

What could be improved: Naja nicht gefallen?! Kleinigkeiten
    Vielleicht im WC ein Spiegel.
