Look, I’ll be straight with you about the LANDMARK NAMBA TSUTENKAKU – it’s one of those places that completely surprised me. I was honestly expecting just another generic business hotel when I booked it, but this little gem in Ebisuhigashi actually has some real personality. The moment you step inside, there’s this unexpectedly stylish lobby that feels way more upscale than the “3-star” label suggests. I mean, the design has this modern Japanese aesthetic that’s done really well, not the tired fake-traditional stuff you see everywhere.

What really sold me on this place was the location – and I don’t mean that in the usual “convenient location” BS way that every hotel claims. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Tsutenkaku Tower, which sounds touristy but actually means you’re right in the heart of old-school Osaka. The streets around here buzz with that authentic energy you came to Japan for, you know? There’s this incredible kushikatsu joint called Daruma just around the corner that locals have been hitting up for decades, and honestly, stumbling back from there after a few beers and some fried everything is half the fun. The area gets pretty lively at night – not crazy loud, but there’s definitely street life happening, so if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs.

The rooms themselves punch above their weight class. They’re not huge (this is Japan, after all), but everything’s been thought through really well. The bed was actually comfortable – I slept better here than at some fancy places I’ve stayed. What I really appreciated were the little touches, like the bathroom setup that doesn’t make you feel like you’re contorting yourself in a phone booth, and the fact that the WiFi actually works properly throughout the building. Check-in was smooth too, with staff who spoke decent English and seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.

Here’s something that caught me off guard – the breakfast spread was way better than expected. Not just the usual sad continental stuff, but actual Japanese options that didn’t feel like an afterthought. And the coffee? Surprisingly good for a hotel this size. The whole place just feels like someone actually cares about running it well, which you can’t always count on. With an 8.3 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks they’re doing something right here. If you want to be in the thick of Namba’s energy without paying Ritz-Carlton prices, this spot delivers exactly what you’re looking for.

  Location of the property was amazing with incredible food and entertainment options within walking distance. Although small (which is standard for large Japanese cities), the space worked well for our family of 2 Adults and 2 Children (4yo and 6yo) to have separate sleeping areas. The facilities were very good with washing machine and full cooking facilities provided.
  
  What could be improved: There was a bit of a musty smell from underneath the kitchen sink. And very little natural light to the apartment unfortunately.

  For a family of 5, this house fit perfectly for our family. Can’t ask for more with the price we paid for. Good value of money with 2 train station not too far. Especially we have an elderly, it helps with a station nearby.
  
  What could be improved: No dryer within the building for us to dry our clothes except hanging on the balcony. Fortunately next building ground floor have two paid dryer that only cost ¥100 per 30mins drying.
