You know what really caught me off guard about this place? Walking up to Kyobashi House, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside – it’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch on Miyakojima Naka-dori, and the neighborhood has that lived-in feeling where actual Osakans go about their daily business. But step inside and you’ve got this entire traditional house to yourself, which in a city where most people live in apartments the size of American closets, feels almost ridiculously spacious.

The whole setup is perfect if you’re traveling with family or a group and you’re tired of cramming into hotel rooms where you can hear your neighbor’s TV through paper-thin walls. Here, you actually get to spread out – there’s proper living space, a kitchen where you can cook (and I mean really cook, not just heat up convenience store ramen), and bedrooms that feel like, well, actual bedrooms. The tatami floors have that clean, grassy smell that hits you right when you walk in, and honestly, after a few days of sleeping on a proper futon, your back might thank you. Or complain loudly – depends on what you’re used to.

What I really appreciated was how the location works in your favor without feeling touristy. You’re about a ten-minute walk from Kyobashi Station, which connects you to pretty much everywhere you need to go in Osaka, but the street itself is quiet enough that you can actually sleep at night. There’s a Family Mart right around the corner (essential for late-night snack runs), and this little local izakaya two blocks over that doesn’t have an English menu but serves the kind of yakitori that makes you understand why people rave about Japanese grilled chicken. The area comes alive in the evenings when people are heading home from work, but during the day it’s pleasantly sleepy – good for recovering from those inevitable Dotonbori hangovers.

I’ll be honest, it’s not luxury accommodation – the 3-star rating is pretty accurate, and some of the fixtures show their age. The bathroom is compact even by Japanese standards, and the air conditioning units are the kind that wheeze a bit when they kick on. But that’s sort of the point, isn’t it? You’re getting an authentic slice of how regular people live in Osaka, not some sanitized hotel experience. The check-in process was smoother than I expected (they actually met us at the house, which saved the usual fumbling around with lockboxes), and having a washing machine meant I could pack lighter and do laundry instead of buying new clothes every few days. For the price and the space, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights, it beats hotel living hands down.

  問い合わせをさせていただいた時はオーナー様が丁寧に対応してくださいました。設備については、エアコンが各部屋に完備されており今の暑い時期よく効きました。自転車を借りられたので大阪城まで自転車で見に行くことができました。洗濯機と洗剤がありましたので滞在中洗濯ができ大変助かりました。夜のご飯も少し歩けば駅やコンビニがあるので不便はありませんでした。駐車場も近くにあり1日停めても安かったです。
  
  What could be improved: NetflixやYouTubeなどが日本語でなく、外国語に設定されておりネットで自分で調べたのですが直し方が分かりませんでした。直し方の説明などがあればいいなと思いました。掃除がされていなかったのか、、ソファーの下やそこらへんに普通に埃や髪の毛が落ちていました。掃除しようにも掃除機が作動せず使えませんでした。ゴキブリの赤ちゃんも滞在中に出てきました。殺虫剤があれば嬉しかったです。クイックルワイパーなどが洗面台にあればドライヤーで乾かした髪が掃除しやすいかなと思いました。充電器がありましたがタイプCだったので使っているiPhoneで使えませんでした。
