Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to KUROMON Royal, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked into this corner of Nipponbashi. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you the most. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Chuo-ku, nothing flashy, but there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try too hard to impress you before you even get inside.

What really sold me on this place is the location – and I mean the actual, practical benefits of being here, not just “oh it’s convenient.” You’re literally a two-minute walk from Kuromon Ichiba Market, which means you can grab the most incredible fresh sashimi for breakfast if you’re into that sort of thing (and honestly, you should be). The market gets crazy busy by mid-morning, but if you’re staying here, you can beat the crowds and actually enjoy browsing without getting elbowed by tour groups. Plus, you’re right between Nippombashi and Namba stations, so getting anywhere in Osaka is actually pretty painless – though I’d recommend walking to Dotonbori rather than taking the subway since it’s only about ten minutes on foot and you’ll stumble across some great little spots along the way.

The rooms are… well, they’re what you’d expect for a 7.9 rating, which means clean and functional without any major surprises good or bad. I mean, this isn’t the Ritz, but the beds are comfortable enough and the bathrooms are properly sized (something you can’t always count on in this price range in Osaka). The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you out – I had this whole confusion about getting to Osaka Castle efficiently, and the front desk guy actually drew me a little map showing which exit to use at the station. Small thing, but it mattered. One thing to note though – if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the street side. Nipponbashi can get a bit noisy with delivery trucks in the early morning, especially near the market. Nothing terrible, just something to keep in mind. Overall, KUROMON Royal does exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more interested in exploring Osaka than hanging out in your hotel room.

  The room was in the perfect location- short walk to the Kuromon Fish Markets, Nippombashi station and Dontonburi.

  Apartment was very clean, modern and spacious with all amenities. Loads of storage space. Beds were really comfortable and the kitchen and shower room were great. It was even nice having a clothes dryer built into the shower room. It's right in Namba so lots to see and eat. Can get anywhere from Namba station and can walk to Dotonburi. There was a 24/7 convenience store across the road too which was handy.
  
  What could be improved: The trash area really needs to be cleaned and organised with separate sealed cages or bins and labels put on each. It was a mess, smelled bad and there were rats among the trash bags left out. That is probably a building management issue rather than the apartment owner though.
