You know what struck me first about Japan Sessions KANZAKI 01? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Yodogawa-ku that most tourists never see, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still in Osaka – you can hear the distant hum of the city – but walking down Mitsuyakita feels like you’ve found this little secret neighborhood where actual people live their lives.

The hotel itself is refreshingly unpretentious for a place pulling 9.2 ratings. It’s got that modern Japanese minimalism thing going on, but not in an intimidating way – more like someone’s really stylish friend designed their apartment and happened to have great taste. The lobby smells faintly of hinoki wood (you’ll know it when you smell it), and check-in was surprisingly smooth even with my terrible Japanese. The staff actually seemed to enjoy the challenge of communicating, which was a nice change from some places where you feel like you’re bothering them just by existing. What really won me over was how they handled the practical stuff without making a big deal about it – there’s bicycle storage if you’re exploring that way, and they’ll hold your luggage without the whole formal ceremony some hotels insist on.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to fully appreciate: you’re a solid 10-minute walk to Shin-Osaka Station, which sounds far until you realize that means you’re also 10 minutes away from tourist crowds and inflated prices. There’s this little family-run takoyaki stand about three blocks south that locals actually go to (not just saying that), and honestly, discovering places like that is worth the extra steps. The neighborhood gets properly quiet after 9 PM, so if you’re one of those people who needs actual silence to sleep, this works. I stayed during Golden Week when the rest of Osaka was absolute chaos, and our street felt almost sleepy by comparison. The rooms are compact – well, it’s Japan, so no surprises there – but everything’s been thought through. The shower pressure is actually decent (why is this so hit-or-miss in Japanese hotels?), and there’s enough space to fully open your suitcase without climbing over it to get to the bathroom. Small thing, but after a week of hotels where you’re playing luggage Tetris, you notice these details.

  Great location, short walk to the train station and 7/11 and Family Mart. Great options for food near by.
  
  What could be improved: Since its in a market, it can get a little noisy during the day due to foot traffic.
  The stars are very steep, travelled with my elderly mother and it was a bit difficult for her to go up and down the stairs – we had to leave our luggage on the ground floor.

  Tolle geräumige, saubere und relativ ruhige Unterkunft mit guter Anbindung nach Zentral-Osaka.
