Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about It’ ta de JPN? The name itself is kind of quirky – I mean, it’s clearly going for that modern Japan vibe, and honestly, it delivers on that promise. This place sits in Konohana ward, which I’ll be straight with you, isn’t exactly where most tourists end up. But that’s actually part of its charm. You’re in this residential pocket of Osaka where you get a real feel for how locals live, not just the tourist circus of Dotonbori (though don’t worry, you can still get there easily enough).

The self check-in thing had me nervous at first – I kept thinking, what if something goes wrong? But it’s actually smoother than dealing with tired front desk staff at 11 PM. They send you clear instructions beforehand, and the whole process took maybe three minutes. The building itself is one of those sleek, narrow Japanese structures that somehow fits way more inside than seems possible from the street. Inside, everything’s clean and minimalist in that distinctly Japanese way – not sterile, just… purposeful, I guess. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Japan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed. Really good blackout curtains, which you’ll appreciate if you’re dealing with jet lag, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I actually slept better here than at some fancier places in Shibuya.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Konohana doesn’t have the constant hum of central Osaka, so you can actually hear yourself think. There’s a family-run convenience store about two blocks away that stays open late – the elderly couple running it doesn’t speak much English, but they’re incredibly sweet and their onigiri selection is better than most konbinis. The area’s got this lived-in feeling that makes you slow down a bit. You’ll see kids walking to school in the mornings, elderly folks tending tiny gardens, that sort of thing. It’s maybe a 15-minute train ride to get into the thick of things, but sometimes having that buffer zone is exactly what you need after a day of temple-hopping and street food hunting. For the price point and that 8.7 rating, I get it – this isn’t trying to be a luxury experience, it’s trying to be a genuine one, and it succeeds. Just pack light because those stairs are no joke if you’re on the third floor.

Reviews

  • Paul from Japan – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

    Very clean very close bye

What could be improved: I love it no complaints

  • Chris from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (9/10)

The keys are in a combination keylock which is very convenient. We had a little trouble working out how to access the keylock but this was more to do with with being very tired from the journey. The lock is easy to use when you know how.

  • Carlos from United States – 31 May 2025 (6/10)

Beds are comfy, great kitchen and a lot of space.

What could be improved: Washing machine never properly worked since then day i checked in till I left. Many parts of the place were dusty and felt like it had not been cleaned. If you opened the window in the master bedroom a weird smell came from it.

  • Lisa-marie from Australia – 7 January 2025 (6/10)

Convenient location not far from train or walking to Universal Studios. Family mart very close by. Fridge washing machine etc was very handy.

What could be improved: It's on a main road and the front room where beds are shakes through the night and is noisy, they do provide ear plugs but I did not read this in any previous reviews. A drier would be handy as things did not really dry outside on small balcony.

  • Sachi from Japan – 19 March 2025 (9/10)

    What could be improved: 鍵の開け方

  • Masahiro from Japan – 18 February 2025 (9/10)

    What could be improved: 大道路に面しており夜中に暴走車とパトカーのカーチェイスで起こされました。大型トラックが通るたび震度3です。
    対策で耳栓が置いてあるので使いました。

  • Miku from Japan – 27 March 2024 (9/10)

    What could be improved: においが臭くはないが少し独特だった
    部屋に入るまでに急な狭い階段があるので大きいキャリーケースがある人は大変

  • Mai from Japan – 9 March 2025 (8/10)

    What could be improved: 夜、車が通る音と振動がする。対策で耳栓があったのはよかった

  • Yuko from Japan – 28 October 2024 (8/10)

    What could be improved: 幹線道路沿いだから仕方ないけど
    うるさかった。
