Imperial Hotel Osaka Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy hotels in Osaka, but the Imperial Hotel honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking up to this place on Temmabashi, you’re right in that sweet spot where old Osaka meets the business district, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or sterile like some of the chain hotels closer to Namba. The lobby hits you with this understated elegance that’s very Japanese – none of that over-the-top marble and gold situation you sometimes get with five-star places.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to anticipate things without being pushy about it. I’m talking about small stuff that actually matters when you’re jet-lagged and fumbling around – they had my room ready early without me even asking, and when I mentioned I was heading to Sumiyoshi Taisha the next morning, the concierge just casually dropped some local train tips that saved me like twenty minutes of confusion. The rooms themselves are spacious by Japanese standards (seriously, you can actually open your suitcase without rearranging furniture), and the beds are that perfect firmness that somehow works whether you’re a side sleeper or not. I was on the eighth floor facing west, and honestly, watching the sun set over the Yodo River while sipping tea from their in-room service was one of those unexpectedly perfect moments.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t one of those hotels where you feel like you need to whisper in the hallways or worry about using the wrong fork. It’s polished, sure, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about it. The restaurant downstairs does this incredible kaiseki dinner that changes with the seasons (I was there in late fall and they had these persimmons prepared in a way I’d never seen), and their breakfast spread actually includes both Western and Japanese options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. You’re also walking distance from Osaka Castle if you’re into that, but more importantly, you’re close enough to the real food scene in Tenma – that’s where locals actually eat, not the tourist traps in Dotonbori. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in the elevators, but honestly, that’s me being picky. If you’re looking for a place that feels both luxurious and authentically Osakan without breaking the bank completely, this is it. Just book directly with them if you can – they sometimes throw in little perks that the booking sites don’t mention.

Reviews of Imperial Hotel Osaka
Nabeel from Saudi Arabia – 15 June 2025 (9/10)
A very classic hotel with top quality staff and excellent facilities. This place lives up to its name. Top value especially given the high quality of the facilities and the extremely high professional standards their team have. Concierge very helpful in different topics. Hotel offer a complimentary shuttle bus between hotel and Osaka Station every 20 minutes, which was very convenient! Location is around 10 minute walk from two different metro stations. There is a FamilyMart at the hotel complex, while Lawson and 7-Eleven are just across the street.
What could be improved: If you plan to use the gym or swimming pool, expect to pay per entrance, which something I didn’t encounter in my stays in numerous different hotels. The only thing I didn’t like about my stay at Imperial Hotel Osaka.Liangquan from Singapore – 8 June 2025 (9/10)
Clean and convenient

The Hotel is of a older style, but very grand and nice. We liked the feeling of it, it presents as something special.
Professional staff and high quality food. It strives to offer a premium service.
The location is somewhat away from the hustle and bustle but it is a beautiful spot and a free shuttle service is provided.
As far as breakfast is concerned there is a choice of traditional Japanese on a higher floor which is very nice with spectacular views plus you can choose to have a more western menu which was very good offering lots of choice.
What could be improved: Lack of multimedia or streaming options.Jim from Australia – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
