I Cube Kozu Apartment Overview
I’ll be honest, when I first walked up to I Cube Kozu Apartment in Chuo-ku, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you the most. This little apartment-style hotel sits right in the Kozu area, and if you’re not familiar with this part of Osaka, it’s actually one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically local without being touristy at all.
The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely living like an Osakan for a few days. I mean, you’ve got your own little apartment setup – nothing fancy, but everything works exactly as it should. The rooms have that clean, minimalist Japanese efficiency thing going on, and honestly, after spending days cramped in tiny Tokyo hotel rooms, having actual space to spread out felt like luxury. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re still in the heart of the city. The building’s set back just enough from the main road that you don’t get that constant hum of traffic that keeps you up in other parts of town.
Here’s what the travel sites won’t tell you though – the real magic happens when you step outside. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Nagahoribashi, and I spent half my mornings just wandering down to the canal with coffee from the konbini around the corner. The Dotonbori craziness is close enough when you want that full tourist experience, but you can actually escape back to this quieter pocket when you’ve had enough of the crowds. Plus, and this is key if you’re planning to eat your way through Osaka (which, let’s face it, you should), there’s this incredible yakitori place about two blocks south that doesn’t have a name in English but has a red lantern out front – the kind of spot where salarymen stop for a quick drink and some of the best chicken you’ll ever taste. The hotel staff actually sketched me a little map to find it, which was pretty sweet of them.
The apartment setup means you’ve got a little kitchenette situation going on, so you can grab stuff from the nearby supermarket and actually save some money instead of eating out every single meal. Though honestly, with Osaka’s food scene, good luck with that willpower. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – none of that awkward language barrier stuff I was worried about, and they had this whole folder of recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. I actually found my favorite okonomiyaki spot through their suggestions, this tiny place where the owner makes everything right in front of you while telling stories I couldn’t understand but somehow still found hilarious.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies, but if you want to actually experience Osaka rather than just pass through it, I Cube Kozu hits that sweet spot perfectly. You’re paying for location and authenticity rather than marble bathrooms and room service, and honestly? That trade-off worked out pretty well for me. The 8.7 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place that does exactly what it promises without any pretense.

The place was comfortable big clean and had all the facilities we needed, walking distance from the dotonbori and the staff members were so nice and helpful

The apartment was spacious and clean. The accessibility to Namba area and Dotonbori is very good. The check-in process seemed to be complicated but there was a good instruction and an example video so it went smoothly for us. There was a washing machine in the apartment which made our life very easy. The only problem is that there is no drying function and we had to hang our cloths to dry. However, as long as the air conditioner works the drying is relatively fast. There were plates, pots, spoons, knives, forks and chopsticks available in the kitchenette. So it is possible to cook stuff. Also there is fridge, kettle and a microwave.
What could be improved: One side of the apartment is next to a highway. Therefore, it is noisy. It happened 2-3 times that very loud cars, motorcycles and cars with blaring siren passed by in the middle of the night and we woke up in panic. The bed was comfortable but the pillow was hard for the neck.Lexy from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
Helpful staff with easy, fast communication through WhatsApp. Great location, 7 min walk to stations and 5 mins away from Dotonbori! Clean and spacious room with full amenities. Couldn’t recommend enough.
What could be improved: Nothing!Steven from Australia – 25 May 2025 (9/10)

A unit of apartment is an average medium size, with a small built-in kitchenette, a fridge, and a washing machine. The whole space is comfortable for 2 people but could be a little cramped for 3. Check-in and check-out instructions were very detailed yet simple and efficient, so don't worry if you hadn't done a self-check-in before, you'll be just fine here. The room was clean and the beds were really comfortable. The toilet facilities and water heater were great, like we genuinely enjoyed the shower jetstreams lol. Overall, I would really recommend this for a group of 2-3 people.
What could be improved: Nothing really. I loved everything.Deniss from Latvia – 18 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location, very clean, looks great inside and outside.
What could be improved: Clothes drying rack would be nice to have.Mohd from Malaysia – 9 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location to Osaka Namba station. Very clean with good wifi and good kitchen and facilities. Room larger than normal for Japan which was a bonus. Plenty of room to store suitcases etc. Great convenience store just outside and 5 minutes walk to Dotonbori.
What could be improved: Getting access was ok…read your messages from host to check how to gain access as there are 2 different locks to get your key. Once you have figured it out, then access is simpleHershey from Philippines – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
First of all, we were four people sharing the same apartment. Check in was really simple. We definitely did feel safe staying in their place! The neighborhood is quiet and we were very close to a 24/7 grocery store—literally just a 2 minute walk.
Aside from the location and safety, we were very comfortable in the room. With three large luggages and three carry-ons, we were pretty comfy. There'd be less space on the floor but it was no problem for us, besides, there was a big closet too where we put all our clothes in. We could cook in the kitchen, and the bathroom was spacious enough with running hot water!
What could be improved: Maybe there could be an extra pan? or another stove? Especially for the guests who enjoy cooking in the apartment as well. But other than that, there's nothing we didn't like.
