Hotel Description

So I’ve stayed at Hotel Sanrriott Kitahama a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets better the more you understand Osaka. The location is absolutely perfect if you know what you’re doing – it’s tucked away in Higashikoraibashi, which sounds intimidating but is actually this brilliant spot where you’re close to everything without being stuck in the tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to Dotonbori in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not dealing with the crowds and noise at night when you just want to crash.

What really sold me on this place was discovering it’s practically next door to some of the best local food spots that most visitors never find. There’s this tiny ramen shop two blocks away that doesn’t even have an English sign, and the hotel staff actually gave me directions there (in surprisingly good English, by the way). The building itself has that clean, modern Japanese hotel feel – you know, everything works perfectly, the rooms are compact but cleverly designed, and there’s this attention to detail that Western hotels often miss. The bathrooms are particularly well done, with those deep soaking tubs that are actually big enough for normal-sized humans. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being in the city center – the windows must be seriously well-insulated because I barely heard street noise even on weekends.

Check-in was smooth every time, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM because they’re pretty strict about that policy. The front desk staff has this lovely habit of giving you a little neighborhood map with their personal recommendations marked on it, which is honestly more valuable than any concierge service. You’re also really close to Kitahama Station, which connects you to everywhere you need to go – Kyoto’s an easy shot from there, and getting to Osaka Castle or Universal Studios is straightforward. I’ve stayed here during both busy seasons and quieter times, and the service stays consistently good. The breakfast isn’t anything revolutionary, but it’s solid and includes both Western and Japanese options. My only minor complaint is that the elevators can get a bit crowded during peak checkout times, but that’s pretty typical for any decent hotel in this part of town. Overall, it’s exactly what you want in Osaka – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who actually care about making your stay work well.

Reviews

  • Rocio from Spain – 17 May 2023 (9/10)

The bedroom was very big and comfortable. It included some appliances (a microwave, for example and even a curling tong and a straightening iron for your hair!). There was a USB charger so we did not need a plug adaptator to charge our mobile phones. It is perfect ot stay for a few days in Osaka.

What could be improved: Although it was located in a quiet and safe area, the hotel was some minutes walking from the metro/train station.
However, I want to be fair: we were so exhausted from the trip that we would have preferred somewhere closer to the city centre, it was our problem, not the hotel's!

  • Jo from New Zealand – 5 April 2023 (8/10)

Fun style room. Liked having the room on its own level.

  • Michael from Switzerland – 6 May 2024 (8/10)

Nice room, not too small, convenient area though not too close to the Metro.

What could be improved: Not very close to the Metro/public transport.

  • Viviane from Switzerland – 6 April 2024 (7/10)

The room was quite big by Japanese standards and beds were very comfortable.

What could be improved: A bit anonymous. We did not see anybody except on the check-in day

  • Genevieve from Australia – 1 October 2023 (7/10)

    Great family room

What could be improved: The pillows were very uncomfortable, probably due to be replaced

  • James from United States – 18 April 2023 (8/10)

This place is adorable. It seems like it was built for 4 children to have the time of their lives: colorful/cheerful, all bunk beds (plus 2 squishy fold-out chairs that can double as beds), a little table, big tv and karaoke (!!!). But the room also works well for adults, partly because the bathroom and shower room are very clean, well-appointed and spacious. Beds are clean, comfy, big. The hotel is in a very quiet area but not very far from the crazy happy funny center of town. Oh! The staff is very jolly and helpful + easy to communicate with : )

What could be improved: The only complaints we have are: 1) the room has a little bit of a funny smell. Like the carpet has endured too many smelly socks. Can’t comment on the other rooms (we were on the 10th floor, one apartment per floor), they are prob fine. 2) most of the soft cushiony furniture has a lot of staining. Again, though, not enough to outweigh our good experience.

  • Margaux from France – 29 September 2024 (9/10)

Perfect place to stay when arriving in Osaka ! Our hotel room was our safe heaven !! Thank you so much the room had everything we could have needed. Amazing stay, highly recommend

  • Maya from United States – 11 January 2024 (9/10)

Clean, staff was kind, nice location, quiet

  • Valeriya from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (5/10)

Location is peaceful but further out from places you want to visit on your first time in Osaka

What could be improved: Unfortunately the bed and the pillows were absolutely horrible, our backs were broken and I couldn’t sleep the second night as there was literally a whole in the mattress. Pillows felts like they had plastic inside. The room wall was a bit dusty and there was a bleach smell for which we had to open the windows with the curtain being half broken.

  • Shuo from Singapore – 11 June 2023 (6/10)

The location is near Nakanoshima Park. The scenery around the park is quite nice. There’re also many good restaurants nearby.

What could be improved: The room is not very clean. The wooden partitions which separate the beds and table are quite dusty. The coin washing machine and dryer on the 1st floor have not been cleaned for a long time. A lot of dust trapped inside the dryer door.
