Hotel Description
So I’ve stayed at Hotel S-Presso Namba a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The first time I walked up to it on Nanbanaka street, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical – it’s tucked between a convenience store and what looks like a small office building, nothing too flashy from the outside. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm.
The location is genuinely fantastic, and I mean that in the most practical way possible. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Namba Station, which sounds like every hotel says that, but I’ve timed it – it’s actually three minutes, not some marketing department’s version of three minutes. The real win though is being on this quieter side street. I’ve stayed at places right on the main drag before, and honestly, the noise from drunk salarymen at 2 AM gets old fast. Here, you get all the benefits of being in the heart of Namba without feeling like you’re sleeping in the middle of a pachinko parlor. The Dotonbori chaos is just around the corner when you want it, but your room stays surprisingly peaceful at night.
The rooms themselves are small – I mean, this is Japan, so you’re not expecting a Vegas suite – but they’re cleverly designed. Everything has its place, and the bed is actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given at this price point. The whole “S-Presso” thing makes more sense when you see how efficiently everything’s laid out, sort of like a well-designed espresso machine where every component serves a purpose. The bathrooms are those prefab units you see everywhere in Japanese business hotels, but they’re clean and the water pressure is decent. What I really appreciate is that the air conditioning actually works properly – I’ve been in too many places where it sounds like a jet engine but barely moves the air around.
Check-in is straightforward, though the front desk staff’s English is pretty basic. Not a problem if you’ve got Google Translate handy, and they’re genuinely helpful even when communication gets a bit choppy. One thing that surprised me was how quiet the place is during the day – I think it attracts more business travelers than tourists, so you don’t get the usual backpacker hostel vibe with people coming and going at all hours.
The 7.1 rating feels about right to me. It’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. For the price you’re paying in this part of Osaka, you’re getting solid value. I keep coming back because it just works – clean, quiet enough, great location, and the staff remembers you if you’re a repeat visitor, which is a nice touch. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, look elsewhere. But if you want a reliable base for exploring Osaka without breaking the bank, this place does the job really well.

It was 2 star hotel. Havent seen any staff so not comment. It is quite small hotel no elevator. Room was clean. Namba is great location for literally everywhere
Jenan from Australia – 16 January 2025 (8/10)
I loved the incredibly convenient location, just across the road from one of the sides of Namba Station—it made getting around so easy. Also close to many shops and restaurants. The rooms were a decent size for Japan and came with thoughtful amenities like towels, slippers, a bathrobe, a comb, a razor, toilet paper, and a toothbrush, all available on the first floor. The tiny fridge in the room was a nice touch, and overall, the hotel provided everything you’d need for a comfortable stay.
What could be improved: The lack of stairs could be a big issue—lugging suitcases up to the third floor could be a real struggle. There wasn’t much space to hang clothes, and with open suitcases, the room felt a bit tight. The TV only had Japanese channels, which wasn’t a huge deal but worth mentioning.Eric from Canada – 25 September 2024 (7/10)
Good location, quaint, clean, open 24/7.
What could be improved: Very small, but expected given the price. Also no windows.Roman from Poland – 27 July 2024 (8/10)
Location, decent comfy room, staff
What could be improved: Luggage storage space a bit far, not very convenient if you want to drop luggageChia from Australia – 9 February 2024 (8/10)
Close to train station and many eateries. Small room but still sufficient to move around.
What could be improved: The stairs to go up and down – more so if you have luggage 🙁Jessa from Philippines – 19 December 2023 (8/10)
● Unique QR-based check-in and check-out process
● Very near the train, malls, convenience stores
● Also near Dotonbori (although there will still be some walking)
● Clean, spacious room
What could be improved: ● No elevatorAlice from Taiwan – 11 August 2023 (7/10)
Ultra close to the station
What could be improved: No elevatorPatsorn from Thailand – 22 April 2023 (8/10)
The location of the establishment is great. The staff members are welcoming, the accommodations are maintained in a hygienic and orderly manner, and the pricing is reasonable.
What could be improved: No elevator, and cleaning services are not provided during the course of a three-day stay. Additionally, the walls are too thin, allowing the noise from the hallway to be heard.Sheri from United States – 30 March 2023 (8/10)
Location, cleanliness, amenities, comfort, quiet.
What could be improved: No elevator and we are both 60+. So hauling luggage up to the third floor was exhausting after traveling for over 27 hrs.
