Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to HOTEL MYSTAYS Midosuji Honmachi, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best travel surprises come from exactly these kinds of spots. The building sits right on Honmachi, which is perfect because you’re literally steps away from Honmachi Station on the Midosuji Line. I mean, you can’t get much more central in Osaka’s business district than this – it’s like being dropped right into the heart of everything without the crazy tourist crowds you get around Dotonbori.
The thing that actually impressed me most was how quiet it stays inside despite being on a pretty busy street. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Japan, after all), but they’re cleverly designed with that efficient Japanese style where everything has its place. The beds are surprisingly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and honestly, after walking around Osaka Castle and the endless shopping arcades all day, that’s exactly what you need. What I really appreciated was the shower pressure, which is always a gamble in budget hotels. Here it’s actually decent, and the water gets properly hot without that weird temperature dancing some places do. The staff speaks enough English to help you out, but they’re also patient if you want to try your broken Japanese (which I definitely did).
Here’s the thing about staying in Honmachi – you’re not in the flashy tourist zone, but that’s actually kind of great. You can walk to Shinsaibashi in about 15 minutes, or just hop on the subway and be anywhere in the city within 20 minutes. There’s a convenience store literally around the corner, and some really solid local restaurants that don’t have picture menus but serve incredible food. The hotel’s location puts you right in the middle of Osaka’s business district, so you get to see how the city actually works – salarymen grabbing quick breakfast, tiny coffee shops that open at 6 AM, that whole rhythm. Plus, the area’s surprisingly walkable if you want to explore beyond the main tourist spots. I found myself just wandering the neighborhood in the evening, stumbling onto little bars and izakayas that definitely don’t see many foreign faces. The 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it does everything it promises well. Check-in was smooth, the room was clean and functional, and the price point feels right for what you get. If you want to experience Osaka like someone who actually lives there instead of just passing through, this is a solid choice.

You can walk easily into the centre, and there are plenty of bars and good food places nearby. The hotel is very nice and the staff are great. You can park your car here for a an ok fee. Rooms are a good size. Liked staying here.
What could be improved: Didn't stay long enough in Japan.Paige from Canada – 3 June 2025 (8/10)
Facilities and room were well maintained. Great location, amenities drawer in the lobby was a savior.
I also appreciated the small essential oils display in the lobby that allowed you to put your scent of choice on a cotton pad to keep in your room!
What could be improved: Rooms are small, but it's Japan, so it's expected.Mary from United Arab Emirates – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
Good facilities, great location – near train station and shopping district. Check in and out process was easy.
What could be improved: Room is slightly small for two people, but is expected for room sizes in Japan.Lee from Singapore – 12 May 2025 (8/10)
Good location
What could be improved: Lift designated to stop at level 2Fabio from Netherlands – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
The location is really good, close to the shopping area in Osaka and to the metro station. The bed was comfortable, but not big enough for 2 adults and 1 child. Luckily my daughter gave up to go.
What could be improved: We found a lot of dust in the cube where the small fridge is (but the room / restroom in general were clean)Mohammad from Australia – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
Close to dotonbori!

The location is perfect (near several subway lines) and centrally located in Osaka. They store your luggage at no exra charge, and they arrange for luggage transfer.
What could be improved: There were no laundry facilities, but there was one within 300 meters walking distance (very easy to use). Breakfast has a decent selection (Japanese and Continental), in my humble opinion it was missing some fruits.Newton from Canada – 13 March 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: No laundry machines
