Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Hotel Emiru in Nishikujo, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in this quiet corner of Konohana-ku. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you right off the bat. The building itself is pretty understated, sort of that clean, minimalist Japanese style that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the street, which I actually liked. And here’s the thing about those two parking spots they mention in the name – they’re genuinely a godsend if you’re driving in Osaka. I mean, finding parking anywhere near the city center usually involves either paying through the nose or walking forever, so having a guaranteed spot is huge.

What really won me over was how the staff just… got it, you know? Check-in was smooth without being overly formal, and the front desk guy actually gave me solid recommendations for dinner spots along the Hanshin line – not the touristy places, but where locals grab ramen after work. The rooms are clean and functional in that Japanese way where everything has its place and nothing’s wasted. The beds are firm (which took me a night to get used to, honestly), but I slept better than I had in weeks. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with one of those fancy toilet seats that make you question why the rest of the world hasn’t figured this out yet. What surprised me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re only about a 10-minute walk from Nishikujo Station. The neighborhood’s mostly residential, so once evening hits, it’s pretty peaceful – you get the occasional train sound, but it’s more rhythmic than disruptive.

The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it. You’re in this local pocket of Osaka that feels authentically Japanese without being touristy, but you can still get to Osaka Station in about 15 minutes on the JR loop line, and Universal Studios is practically next door if that’s your thing. I spent one morning just wandering the narrow streets around the hotel, grabbing coffee from a tiny shop that probably seats six people max, watching salarymen rush to catch their trains. That 9.1 rating makes sense once you realize this place isn’t trying to be something it’s not – it’s just doing the basics really, really well. The value is solid, especially considering what you’d pay for similar convenience closer to the main tourist areas. If you’re the type who wants to experience Osaka like someone who actually lives there, rather than just hitting the famous spots, this is your base camp.

  Everything was great and it’s perfect for kids with the Mario theme. The place has 2 parking spots available, wifi is available with fire stick tv for a movie night with the family.

  Where do I begin? We originally chose this place because it’s a short drive to Universal Studios, but it turns out it’s right next to a train station that gets you there in no time—super convenient.
  
  Overall, the location is a gem for exploring Osaka. We barely had to use the car at all.
  
  The apartment itself is huge. We were a group of 6 and had plenty of space—definitely suitable for even larger groups.
  
  If I could upload a video of my kids’ reaction when they saw the Super Mario-themed room, I would. They were absolutely thrilled!
  
  Another nice touch: the smart TV has Netflix with different language profiles, which saved me the hassle of logging in like I had to do in hotels.
  
  We didn’t use the kitchen much, but it’s spacious, fully equipped, and very comfortable.
  
  Bottom line—this place is fantastic.

  We loved how close it was to Universal Studios. We left the apartment at 7:05am, super short walk to the train station and were in the line up at Universal just before 7:30am. We’re a family of 5, kids aged 12, 9 & 4 and it was just prefect for us. We were out early and back late each day and were really happy with the apartment. Host keeps in touch during stay which we really appreciated.

  The location was excellent, a very quick walk from Nishikujo station and just a couple of stops to central Osaka and USJ. Supermarket very close by.
  
  What could be improved: I really liked everything. The stairs and entrance were quite steep and narrow, not an issue for us but it might be for people with mobility issues.

  The host was so friendly and willing to make our stay comfortable and easy. We checked in a bit late as we were getting there from another area and arrived later than expected. The owner was waiting for us outside, helped us with bags, gave us a quick tour and handed us the keys. Checkout was super simple as well. The owner was also very responsive to messages and I highly recommend this spot for families traveling in the Osaka area. Thank you for the awesome stay!

  The location is very convenient. Just 5 minutes walk from train station, and the train station can easily get you to major locations like USJ, Umeda and Namba.
  
  What could be improved: While being near to train station is a big plus in convenience, there is a bit of noise from trains and station announcement.
