And here’s a local tip they don’t put in the guidebooks: there’s this incredible little ramen shop called Ichiran about two blocks south that stays open late and has almost no tourists because it’s not in the main dining districts.

The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure you had what you needed, but without hovering. When I mentioned I was trying to find a specific type of sake to bring home, the concierge actually drew me a little map to a shop in nearby Honten that he said his uncle recommended. I mean, you can’t make that stuff up. The breakfast was better than expected too – proper Japanese options alongside the usual Western fare, and the coffee was actually good, not just hotel coffee.

  Calm district for the stay with easy access to subway. Clean, cosy, proffessional staff.
  
  What could be improved: Families with children should be choosing the rooms carefully. There is no option for extra bed, so even if there an option for family with a kid in diuble room, you will have to use quite a small bed. Breacfast are typical Japanese. I liked it, but for ones, who prefer variaty – it would be not an option.
