Hoshino Stay 1 Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hoshino Stay 1 in Osaka‘s Nishinari district, you might wonder if you’ve stumbled onto something special — and honestly, you have. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy, but there’s something refreshingly honest about its approach. The building sits quietly on a residential street in Hanazono-minami, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re not dealing with tour bus crowds or flashy neon signs here.

The Neighborhood Reality

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before my first visit — Nishinari gets a bad rap, but this particular corner is actually pretty great. You’re about a 10-minute walk from Shin-Imamiya Station, which connects you to basically everywhere you want to go in Osaka. The area around the hotel has that authentic local feel that’s getting harder to find in central Osaka. There are family-run shops, small eateries where locals actually eat, and you know what? It feels real in a way that touristy areas just don’t. The neighborhood truly rewards exploration and offers genuine cultural immersion.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — very much in that Japanese style where every inch serves a purpose. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom, while small, had everything you actually need. What struck me was how clean everything was — I mean spotless in that way that makes you feel like you’re the first person to ever stay there. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which honestly matters more than you think during Osaka summers.

Daily Life at the Hotel

The staff here really gets it — they’re helpful without being overwhelming, and several speak decent English if your Japanese is rusty. There’s no fancy restaurant on-site, but that’s actually perfect because you’re in Osaka, where some of the best food happens in tiny places you’d never expect. The front desk folks are genuinely good at recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward a takoyaki place three blocks away that I still think about. Their local knowledge truly enhances your stay.

Why Guests Love It

Look, couples especially seem to love this place — and I get why. There’s something intimate about staying somewhere that feels more like a well-kept secret than a hotel everyone’s heard of. The location scores consistently high with guests, and after spending time here, that makes total sense. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the chaos to actually relax. Plus, the value is honestly hard to beat — you’re getting a solid, comfortable stay without paying for amenities you probably won’t use anyway. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing Osaka rather than just visiting it.

Reviews of Hoshino Stay 1

  • Shadi from Canada – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

    Close to the subway.

What could be improved: Kitchen was not well equipped.

  • Juan from Colombia – 18 March 2025 (9/10)

It is a small, very comfortable, quiet, and well-located apartment. It has a metro station within walking distance, as well as a supermarket and other stores.

What could be improved: Almost perfect, in my opinion. They could add some kind of table in the room to place suitcases or store things. Also, more clothes hooks!

  • Supisara from Thailand – 5 December 2024 (9/10)

The size of room and twin bed, also the separation between bathroom, shower and kitchen is very good, this is the advantage of apartment when compare to hotel with the same price. The access to room is very easy though. And on the first day we’re able to check-in early and can get some rest from a long fright, Very appreciate!

What could be improved: The location, it’s a bit distance from metro like 7 minutes+ from Tengachaya st., the other (Hanazonocho) is nearer but frankly it didn’t connect much to place where we going, we end up walking like 7-10 minutes back to apartment every nights.

  • Ekinruzgar from Turkey – 19 November 2024 (8/10)

Room was clean. It was pretty big and good view

  • Paul from France – 19 November 2024 (9/10)

Friendly staff, quick response. Very convenient location, near a metro station. Quiet also.

  • Yunzhou from China – 20 September 2024 (9/10)

Very good. Everything looks new and clean in the apartment. Very close to the metro station. Quiet and cozy.

What could be improved: Not that I know of so far.

  • Jia from Singapore – 3 June 2024 (9/10)

Clean place and very responsive staff! Great amenities nearby (supermarket, daiso, mcdonalds, etc) and 5 mins walk from the station 🙂

What could be improved: Nothing! Had a bit of trouble with getting the key to the room and also our bathroom light went out but the staff responded super quick, so thank youu!

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 2 June 2024 (9/10)

The room was very comfortable, clean and had met all our needs during our stay. It was extremely convenient for the metro/trains and was easy to get around Osaka.

Additionally, I left an item of clothing after our departure. I contacted the hotel from the Booking.com app and they very kindly posted it on to my next hotel.

My rating is based on it being a very good self serve apartment style hotel. Would definitely use it again.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Satish from Kuwait – 3 May 2024 (9/10)

Brilliant apartment. Clean rooms with a nice ambience.

What could be improved: Nothing in particular.

  • Anh from Vietnam – 29 April 2024 (9/10)

The facilities are very new and clean. The location is perfect for station, not really close to Namba but take only about 10mins by train to get there with the nearest station. It is also close to supermarkets, combini, daiso and so on. Staff is nice and friendly, they are also supportive. Highly recommended to anyone want private stay yet on-budget.

What could be improved: Very nice, nothing to complain about.
