Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Hoshino Stay 1 in Nishinari – this part of Osaka doesn’t make it onto most tourist maps, but that’s actually part of its charm. The hotel sits quietly on a residential street in Hanazono-Minami, and you know what? That turned out to be perfect. No crowds of tourists dragging suitcases at 6 AM, just the gentle hum of local life starting up each morning.

The building itself is pretty understated – I mean, it’s not going to win any architecture awards, but there’s something refreshingly honest about it. Inside, they’ve clearly put thought into the details that actually matter. The rooms are compact (this is Japan, after all), but everything has its place, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I slept better here than at some fancier places in Shinsaibashi, if I’m being honest. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – not that overly formal politeness you sometimes get, but real warmth. They even drew me a little map showing the best route to Dotonbori, which saved me about 20 minutes of wandering around.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood itself. You’re a quick train ride from all the major sights, but when you come back in the evening, you get to experience actual Osaka life. There’s a tiny ramen shop two blocks over that serves the most incredible tonkotsu – the kind of place where the mama-san remembers your order after two visits. The nearest station is Hanazono-cho on the Nankai line, maybe a 7-minute walk, and from there you can reach Namba in about 15 minutes. Sure, it’s not as flashy as staying right in the thick of things, but the trade-off is worth it – you’ll actually sleep at night, and your wallet won’t hate you. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which was perfect for me since I was doing a lot of walking during the day. That 8.6 rating makes total sense once you spend a night here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the basics really, really well.

  It is a small, very comfortable, quiet, and well-located apartment. It has a metro station within walking distance, as well as a supermarket and other stores.
  
  What could be improved: Almost perfect, in my opinion. They could add some kind of table in the room to place suitcases or store things. Also, more clothes hooks!

  The size of room and twin bed, also the separation between bathroom, shower and kitchen is very good, this is the advantage of apartment when compare to hotel with the same price. The access to room is very easy though. And on the first day we’re able to check-in early and can get some rest from a long fright, Very appreciate!
  
  What could be improved: The location, it’s a bit distance from metro like 7 minutes+ from Tengachaya st., the other (Hanazonocho) is nearer but frankly it didn’t connect much to place where we going, we end up walking like 7-10 minutes back to apartment every nights.

  Very good. Everything looks new and clean in the apartment. Very close to the metro station. Quiet and cozy.

  Clean place and very responsive staff! Great amenities nearby (supermarket, daiso, mcdonalds, etc) and 5 mins walk from the station 🙂

  The room was very comfortable, clean and had met all our needs during our stay. It was extremely convenient for the metro/trains and was easy to get around Osaka.
  
  Additionally, I left an item of clothing after our departure. I contacted the hotel from the Booking.com app and they very kindly posted it on to my next hotel.
  
  My rating is based on it being a very good self serve apartment style hotel. Would definitely use it again.

  The facilities are very new and clean. The location is perfect for station, not really close to Namba but take only about 10mins by train to get there with the nearest station. It is also close to supermarkets, combini, daiso and so on. Staff is nice and friendly, they are also supportive. Highly recommended to anyone want private stay yet on-budget.
