So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Guest House Nisso, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s tucked into this business building in Konohana-ku, which honestly feels a bit industrial at first glance. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it work for me. The whole area around Shikanjima is actually perfect if you’re planning to hit Universal Studios Japan – I mean, we’re talking maybe a 10-minute train ride, and the JR Sakurajima line is right there. None of that crazy morning rush to get to the parks that you deal with when staying in central Osaka.

The thing about this place is it’s got that no-nonsense vibe that I actually really appreciated. Check-in was straightforward, the staff spoke decent English (which, let’s face it, isn’t always a given in these smaller spots), and our room was… well, it’s a 3-star place, so manage your expectations, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were surprisingly comfortable – I slept better than I expected, considering we’d been walking around Osaka Castle all day. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being in a business district would mean traffic noise, but honestly, once evening hits, the whole area settles down nicely. The air conditioning worked great too, which was a lifesaver during our July visit when the humidity was absolutely brutal.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking – the surrounding area isn’t exactly loaded with restaurants and convenience stores like you’ll find in Namba or Dotonbori. There’s a 7-Eleven about a five-minute walk away (trust me, you’ll find it), and a few local spots that serve decent ramen, but if you’re the type who likes to stumble out of your hotel and have twenty dining options, this might feel a bit quiet. That said, getting into the main tourist areas is super easy – we took the train into Namba for dinner most nights and it was no big deal. The real win here is the price point and the fact that you’re not fighting crowds of tourists every time you leave your hotel. Plus, if you’ve got kids and you’re doing the Universal Studios thing, being able to come back for an afternoon nap without a long commute is honestly priceless. For what we paid and what we needed – a clean, comfortable base with easy theme park access – Guest House Nisso delivered exactly that.

  Of all the apartment i rented during my visit in japan. This one gives you extra bonuses. The washing machine comes with dryer (very useful in winter), RO water, leg massager (very useful after long walk), and the host's wife even baked sweet potato for our snack (amazing hospitality).
  
  What could be improved: Maybe the heater needs a little checked since it is a bit cold for our family.

  I loved the apartment, it’s smallish, that’s expected though. I was able to make breakfast and dinner for my family and even host a friend for dinner. We took rooms 401 and 402, so the whole floor was ours, we had my husband and son in one apartment and my daughter and I in the other, we had 2 kitchens and 2 bathrooms because of the 2 apartments and it was incredible value for money. Really great location, lots to see and do around the area, close to train stations and restaurants and supermarkets. We travelled to universal studios easily from here (it opens at 9am and closes at 7pm, so was super relaxed). There’s a washing machine with detergent and built in dryer…so convenient!!
  
  What could be improved: My apartment was on the 4th floor, so lots of stairs with our bags, but that was not an issue. If you have trouble with stairs please take note.

  Great location near train station and Universal. Lots of nice amenities like water dispenser, games and foot massager. Good layout.
  
  What could be improved: The bottom bunk had a pad as a mattress and it was too long for the bed and curled up, making the bed too short for me to lay on straight and hard to fit two people on. Other than that everything was great.

  What could be improved: 1. There seems to be a camera installed in the wall clock inside the room and kitchen(see pictures). I'm not sure if it is really a camera but it's weird.
  
  2. The room is a bit small for 4 people.
  It's not comfortable to sleep on the sofa.
  3. A bit dusty.
