Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Osaka, and the Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay honestly surprised me in ways I wasn’t expecting. First thing you notice when you pull up – and yeah, you’ll probably want to taxi it from the nearest station since it’s tucked away in Suminoe-ku – is this massive glass tower just sitting there overlooking the bay. It’s not in the thick of Dotonbori madness or anywhere near the usual tourist circus, which is actually kind of refreshing if you ask me.
The location thing is interesting because you’re sort of removed from everything, but in a good way? I mean, you wake up to actual water views instead of neon signs and vending machines (though there are still plenty of those, don’t worry). The rooms – at least the one I had on the 18th floor – give you this sweeping view of Osaka Bay that’s particularly gorgeous around sunset. You know what really got me though? The sound insulation is incredible. Coming from some of the paper-thin business hotels I’ve endured, being able to actually sleep without hearing every footstep in the hallway was… well, it was worth the price difference right there. The beds are these proper king-sized affairs with linens that don’t feel like they came from a bulk supplier, and honestly, the shower pressure could strip paint – which after a long day wandering around Osaka Castle or getting lost in Kuromon Market, that’s exactly what you want.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that most hotels just phone in. The front desk staff actually remembered my name by day two (and not just because they were reading it off a screen), the restaurant on the top floor serves this incredible kaiseki that focuses on local Osaka Bay seafood – try the sea bream if they have it – and the spa facilities are extensive without feeling like a tourist trap. I spent a good hour in their onsen area one evening, and it was mostly locals from the neighborhood, which tells you something about the quality. The whole place has this calm, almost residential feel that’s hard to find in a city hotel. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from Shinsaibashi, but the train connections are straightforward enough, and sometimes it’s nice to come back to somewhere that feels less like organized chaos. If you’re the type who needs to be in the absolute center of everything, this might not be your spot, but if you want a proper luxury experience with room to breathe and some genuine local flavor, the Grand Prince delivers in ways that surprised me.

Beautiful facility. Very comfortable room and bed. Excellent buffet breakfast. Close to public transit. Shuttle is helpful to the Cosmosquare Stop. Perfect location if you are attending Expo 2025 – very close by subway.
What could be improved: Excellent except very far from downtown Osaka. There is a hotel shuttle to Osaka Station that takes about 30 minutes. I’m not sure why you would stay here if you are visiting Osaka except for an event or conference – it is in the portlands and nothing around.Kyoko from United States – 8 June 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: I wanted to take the hotel shuttle from JR Osaka Station, but I couldn’t find detailed information about the bus stop on the hotel’s website. I tried calling the number listed, but the automated message kept saying the line was busy and to call back later. After hours, the message changed to say no one was available to take calls.
Fortunately, I eventually found the bus stop, but I really wish there had been a direct number to reach the bell desk or front desk for help. It was a frustrating experience. That said, once I arrived at the hotel, everything was excellent. The buffet breakfast was pretty good, too.Marc from Japan – 5 June 2025 (8/10)
Spacious and comfortable room.
What could be improved: Location is a bit isolated and exceptionally for the Osaka expo period of time they charged 1000JPY to keep the baggage.Felicia from Australia – 2 June 2025 (9/10)
Amazing accommodation, comfy big king bed, beautiful view and great gym!

Our main goal was to visit the Expo for several days, and this hotel is very close by. USJ was also relatively close. We also appreciated the shuttle bus to the main train station and airport. Having the sea and big ships nearby was interesting. At the hotel we liked the Italian resto and the Lawson shop. Breakfast at 6000y was convenient, and the buffet had enough space to move around. The large warm indoor pool was important for us for relaxing. Kids are allowed. Always make a reservation! It is easy though. Don't expect to just walk in. Rooms are spacious, as mentioned in other comments.
What could be improved: Just a small detail: you must pay for luggage storage on your check-out day, even if you have just paid quite a lot for your stay.
In terms of design, the hotel is more like the 1980s but well-kept and comfortable.Linesh from South Africa – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
We loved the renovated rooms, the room layout. The view and the access to the club lounge!
What could be improved: The location is a little out of town but the shuttle bus made up for thatGalina from Cyprus – 25 May 2025 (8/10)
The property is very nice and comfortable, but the spa area is not included for the hotel guests which is strange for 5*. Breakfast is amazing, with a peaceful view. The room is quite spacious with a view of business Osaka. The kiosk downstairs save from starving.
What could be improved: Restaurants close very early, 8pm. The personnel is not flexible and understands English not well. You need to pay for the luggage storage which is strange for 5* again. The location is so far from anything but Expo. At the same time it’s not crowded and very quiet around.Lydia from Greece – 18 May 2025 (9/10)
Staff and amenities were very good
