But you know what? That’s actually pretty helpful because it tells you exactly what you’re getting. This is basically a family-focused rental house in Shin-Imari, and if you’re traveling with kids or a big group, it’s honestly brilliant.

The location on Shin-Imari 4-chome puts you in this quiet residential area that most tourists never see – which is exactly why I liked it. You’re close enough to Imari Station that you can hop on the JR line into central Osaka, but far enough out that you get actual parking (and trust me, free parking in Osaka is like finding treasure). The neighborhood has that lived-in feel with local convenience stores and family-run restaurants where the menus aren’t in English, but the food is incredible. I mean, there’s this little ramen shop about three blocks away that I stumbled into at 11 PM, and it was packed with salary workers – always a good sign.

What really works about this place is how it’s set up for real life, not Instagram photos. Those five bedrooms actually give everyone space to spread out, which is rare in Japan where hotel rooms can feel like closets. The two baths – and this is key – mean you’re not waiting in line with ten other people when everyone’s trying to get ready in the morning. The whole setup feels more like staying at a relative’s house than a hotel, complete with that slightly worn-in comfort that makes you want to actually relax. The kids’ area isn’t fancy playground equipment or anything, but there’s enough space for them to run around without driving the adults crazy. My friend’s seven-year-old was thrilled just to have room to play with his toys on the floor – simple stuff, but it matters when you’re traveling.

The 9 rating makes sense once you understand what this place is trying to be. It’s not luxury accommodations with Egyptian cotton sheets, but it solves the real problems of traveling with families or groups in Japan. The parking alone probably saves you 3,000 yen a night compared to staying downtown, and having kitchen access means you can hit up the local supermarket instead of eating every meal at restaurants (which gets expensive fast, even at convenience stores). Plus, staying in an actual neighborhood gives you glimpses of regular Japanese life that you’d never see around the tourist areas. I actually ended up chatting with neighbors who were curious about the foreign visitors – broken Japanese and hand gestures, but genuinely friendly interactions that became highlights of the trip.
