Fraser Residence Nankai Osaka Overview

Honestly, when I first walked into Fraser Residence Nankai, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s tucked away on this quiet side street in Namba, and from the outside it looks pretty understated. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special.

The thing about this place is that it’s actually serviced apartments, not your typical hotel rooms, which means you get a proper kitchen and living space. I’m talking full-sized fridge, stovetop, even a washing machine – stuff that sounds boring until you’re three days into a Japan trip and desperately want to wash your clothes or grab a midnight snack from the combini without eating it cross-legged on a tiny hotel bed. The apartments feel genuinely spacious too, which is saying something in Osaka where most hotel rooms are basically glorified closets. The design is clean and modern without being sterile, lots of wood tones and natural light that makes you want to actually hang out there during the day.

Location-wise, it’s sort of perfect if you know the area. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Namba station – and I mean the actual useful exits, not the ones that dump you out in some random underground maze. Dotonbori is right there when you want the full tourist chaos, but the hotel itself sits on Nambanaka street where it’s quiet enough to sleep with the windows open. There’s a Family Mart about thirty seconds away (I may have timed this), and honestly some of the best little restaurants I found were just wandering the narrow streets around there. The staff actually gave me real recommendations too, not just the obvious tourist spots – they pointed me toward this tiny okonomiyaki place that doesn’t even have English signage but serves the best stuff I had in the city.

What really impressed me was how they handle the practical stuff. Check-in was smooth, they had decent English support, and the building itself is modern enough that everything just works – good water pressure, reliable wifi, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train. I stayed during golden week when everything in the city was absolutely packed, but walking back to this quiet street felt like finding a little oasis. The only minor thing is that the elevators are a bit slow, but honestly that’s me being picky. For the price point and that location, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights, it’s hard to beat having actual living space in the heart of Namba without the chaos being right outside your window.

Good location to Dotonbori area, subways and shopping. Plenty of space for our family of 4. Breakfast buffet was also good. Staff was always friendly and helpful.

  • Diana from Singapore – 11 June 2025 (9/10)

Awesome location, friendly staff, good room facilities.

What could be improved: We couldn’t really figure out how to tumble dry our clothes using the washing machine-dryer in our room when our clothes weren’t dry after one cycle.

  • Zemfira from United States – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Location was excellent. Washing machine was a big plus.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Tin_manila from Philippines – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

    1. Great location – very near the subway station and lots of restaurants and convenience stores in the area; 10-15min walking distance to Shinshaibashi and Dotonbori
    2. Good and comfortable studio room, spacious enough for 3 (2 adults and 1 child)
    3. Very efficient washer and dryer machine inside the room, really cleans and dries clothes after 3 hrs. Just make sure the load is manageable
    4. Good breakfast with variety
    5. Friendly and helpful staff

What could be improved: Just minor one – no facial wash in amenities

Very close to subway and Dotumburi area. Staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. Nice comfy beds.

  • Laura from United States – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

Prime location near Namba Station. Room was large and comfortable with an incredible amount of storage space. Very quiet in the room despite the busy location.

Staff went out of their way to be helpful. They found items we left in the room, contacted us promptly, and expedited them to our next hotel. We were very grateful.

Breakfast is also plentiful and good.

What could be improved: All good!

  • Santos from Canada – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

The location is very convenient to everything in Osaka. The property itself is very clean and the staff were super friendly. The room size and the in-suite washer/dryer were great. I was able to relax and be slightly messy because there was so much space. There was also plenty of closet space to hang or unpack your clothes. A funny thing that impressed me is how the comfy pyjamas fit me perfectly. Like how did they know?

What could be improved: That it’s in Osaka which was my least favourite place in Japan during this trip.
