First Cabin Midosuji Namba Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about First Cabin, I thought it was some kind of airline thing. Turns out it’s this really clever capsule hotel concept, and the Midosuji Namba location is actually one of their better spots. It’s tucked up on the third floor of a building right in the heart of Namba, which means you’re literally surrounded by everything you came to Osaka for, but you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention.
The whole setup feels like staying in a really well-designed ship cabin – hence the name, I guess. Your “room” is more like a sophisticated pod with actual thought put into the space. There’s this sliding door that gives you way more privacy than those old-school capsule hotels where you just get a curtain, and honestly, the bed is surprisingly comfortable. I mean, you’re not getting a king-size suite here, but they’ve maximized every inch intelligently. The lighting has different settings, there are proper outlets positioned where you actually need them, and you get this little shelf system that somehow fits all your stuff without feeling cramped. What really sold me was the common areas – they’ve got these clean, modern bathrooms and shower facilities that feel more like a nice gym than a budget hotel, plus there’s a lounge area where you can actually spread out if you need to work or just decompress.
The location thing is huge though, and I don’t just mean “convenient” – I mean you’re steps away from Dotonbori’s chaos, walking distance to Kuromon Market for breakfast (get there early, trust me), and the Namba subway connections are right there when you need to explore other parts of the city. You know what’s nice? You can stumble back from the nightlife scene without worrying about last trains or expensive taxi rides. The building itself is pretty quiet considering you’re in the middle of everything – they’ve got good soundproofing, which matters when you’re trying to sleep off all that takoyaki and beer. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke decent English, and they actually explain how everything works instead of just handing you a key card. The price point makes sense too, especially if you’re spending most of your time out exploring anyway. It’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it’s definitely a smart, clean, well-executed version of what it is – perfect for travelers who want to be in the thick of things without paying through the nose for space they won’t use.

Reviews of First Cabin Midosuji Namba

The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, the facilities were nice.
What could be improved: The pillow was incredibly thin.David from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
Amazing location and great facilities!
What could be improved: There was a large gap at the top of the curtain, which meant it didn't properly black out the room and a lot of leaked in – ended up having to use eye mask when sleeping. The surface above the gap was also very slightly reflective, which meant at certain angles you could actually see in/out of part of the room even with the curtain closed – made it feel less private than it should have been.Vernon from Singapore – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
I would highly recommend a stay at First Cabin Midosuji Namba if you are in the Namba area and are looking for an affordable yet pleasant accommodation.
The location was a stone's throw away from Namba Station. If you can find Exit 13, there's an elevator that brings you straight up to the hotel lobby.
Since it's centrally located, you can walk to various shopping streets like Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, as well as numerous restaurants and entertainment options without needing to take a train or taxi. It truly puts you right in the heart of the action!
Check-in is at 5 PM, and unfortunately, they are quite strict about this policy. However, you can always leave your luggage with them, or you're welcome to sit at the lobby and wait. The staff at the front desk were polite and helpful, and many were able to speak some English.
I was there for one night but had a confirmed reservation for a few nights after my cycling trip and they were very accommodating – they were kind enough to keep my luggage and bike case while I was away. That was a great help and I really appreciate that!!
There were lots of amenities at the lobby for you to collect for your stay. Besides the usual toothbrush, comb, slippers, and towels, they also provide earplugs, nose strips, and eye masks, which is a great bonus for light sleepers.
The public bathroom/sento was clean and it was never crowded. So for the shy, it was an ideal environment to enjoy the communal bath without feeling self-conscious or exposed.
And finally, there were coin-operated washers and dryers too.

I was there for several nights, so I didn't have to check out the day after but could remain in my capsule for my entire stay.

What could be improved: Nothing that i didn’t like about the place.Gemma from United Kingdom – 26 May 2025 (7/10)
Location was right in the heart of Osaka with Dontonburi moments away, also very easy airport connection.
What could be improved: Compared to other first cabins this property had more of a business hotel feel. The first cabin in Kyoto provides complimentary snacks everyday whilst here you had to pay for them.Liwen from Taiwan – 21 May 2025 (9/10)
good location and nice staff

The capsule is big, you can have your large baggage with you.
What could be improved: They don’t clean your capsule during your stay. So if you stay a week you will have the same pijamada and bedsheets.Lily from Australia – 27 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, right outside the station exit. The premium room is very comfortable and great value for money. The shared bathrooms are clean and they have washing services available. The wifi is strong and the staff are very friendly
What could be improved: The dryer is very weak
