You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Far East Village Hotel in Namba South – I mean, it’s tucked away on Shikitsu Higashi street, which honestly feels more residential than touristy. But that turned out to be exactly what made it work so well. While everyone’s cramming into those massive hotels right in the thick of Dotonbori’s chaos, you’re getting a proper night’s sleep just a five-minute walk from all that madness.

The thing about this place is it actually feels like staying in a neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. There’s this little convenience store right around the corner where the owner started recognizing me by day three, and I’d grab my morning coffee there instead of paying hotel prices. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, compact, but thoughtfully laid out in that efficient Japanese way where everything has its place. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and the bathrooms are small but modern. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you get that gentle hum of city life, but none of the drunk tourist noise that echoes through the main entertainment districts until 3 AM.

Location-wise, it’s sort of perfectly positioned if you ask me. You’re close enough to walk to Namba Station without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the tourist circus that you can actually breathe. I found myself taking different routes each day – sometimes cutting through the covered shopping streets when it was raining, other times wandering past the local izakayas where salarymen grab dinner after work. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping out, and while not everyone spoke perfect English, they’d go out of their way to pull up translation apps or sketch little maps. Check-in was smooth, and they actually held my luggage for hours after checkout without making it feel like an imposition. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.3 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – a comfortable, well-located base that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. If you’re the type who wants to experience Osaka like you’re living there temporarily rather than just passing through, this spot hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Located in a convenient spot, walking distance to Namba train station. 7/11, Family Mart and restaurants close by. The rooms are so clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. And the coffee machine in the foyer was such a nice surprise – the kids loved thehot chocolates!

  Room was extremly spacious and had surprising amount of room. Wifi and extra amenities were good. Location was quiet and gave you a chance to explore on foot, about 5 mins from trains, local market and awesome public bath. Sofa bed wasnt comfy but the beds were large enough to top and tail. Loved the coffee machine-basic but great.

  Good central location. Nice new building. The room was surprisingly large for Japan . Quiet and comfortable room. Nice design. Elevator was fast
  
  What could be improved: The public spaces were not useable. Looks like they are still in the process of remodeling the property. Also the closet in the room could have been designed better with some hooks and shelves. The shower head was leaking and spraying water in the bathroom when in use.

  The hotel is close to much of Osaka's popular spots, while being away from noise. The rooms are very cosy and nice, but can seem small for some. The personal are very friendly and they are always happy to help.

  There was a mini fridge, the shampoo and conditioners were nice. I overall loved the stay. Everyone was so kind. Everything so neat and easy.
  
  What could be improved: It was tight bathroom and I did hit my head because everything was a bit tight. I might have been just use to more of a larger space for the bathroom and room in general. There was nothing they can do about that I just had to adjust. I wish there was a separate trash for recycling

  The hotel is in a great location – walking distance to Dotonburi and also has a metro a few minutes walk. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, our only issue was they were a little too hot for us and it wasn’t possible to have any cold air through the air con, but the staff did provide us a fan which helped. Would definitely stay again!
