Honestly, es Maison surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first walk up to this place in Kasugade-kita, it doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of those flashy hotels near Dotonbori, but that’s actually part of its charm. The building has this understated elegance that feels very Japanese, you know? It’s tucked into a quieter residential area that most tourists never see, which means you get to experience Osaka like someone who actually lives here.

The location is honestly brilliant if you know the city at all. You’re close enough to Sumiyoshi Taisha – one of Japan’s most important shrines that somehow doesn’t get mobbed with tour groups – and the train connections are solid without being right on top of the noise. I stayed here during cherry blossom season (probably the worst time for hotel hunting in Japan), and while everywhere else was charging astronomical rates, es Maison felt reasonable for what you get. The rooms have this minimalist thing going on, but it’s the kind of minimalism that actually works – clean lines, quality materials, everything in its place. The bedding was ridiculously comfortable, and I’m usually pretty picky about that stuff.

What really got me was the attention to small details that you don’t expect from a 4-star place. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping you figure out the neighborhood, not just pushing the typical tourist spots. One of the front desk guys – his English was great, by the way – actually drew me a little map showing the best local ramen shop and a tiny park where families bring their kids in the evenings. Those are the moments that make you feel like you’re discovering something real instead of just checking boxes on a sightseeing list. The whole vibe is sophisticated but not stuffy, modern but respectful of where it sits in the city. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels like too much work, and honestly, that 9-star rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. If you want to stay somewhere that feels authentically Osaka without sacrificing comfort – or dealing with the chaos of the main tourist zones – this is your spot.

  建物がキレイで清潔。
  設備が最新すぎて使い方不明なところがあるくらい新しい。例えば食洗機とか自動湯はりシステムとか。
  テレビが巨大。
  3ベッドルームでトイレも3カ所。
  ベッドも布団も準備されてて選び放題。
  手の行き届いた備品がしっかり揃ってる。
  人数分以上のタオルとか本当に助かる。
  ないものもあったけどリクエストしたら翌日届けてくれた。
  電話でサポートセンターで話ができるのが心強い。
  立地も商店街の中にあってとても便利。
  
  What could be improved: 1番感じたのは、駅からちょっと遠い…徒歩15分近くありそう。
  これはホストにはどうしようもないよね。
  仕方ない。
  車があると便利。
  すぐそばの駐車場がすっごい安いから助かった。
  テレビは民放以外にYouTubeが見れるとよかった。選択ボタンがあったし。
  
  贅沢を言えば…
  洗濯機横に洗濯物入れのカゴが欲しい。
  リビングにカバンを置いたり軽く上着など掛けられらるハンガーラックがあるといい。
  だいたいの服は個々の部屋のクローゼットに収納で賄えるから、簡単な荷物置き程度で良いのであったら便利。
  ついでに全身鏡。
  あとは洗濯物を干すための物干しクリップとハンガー！
  でもハンガーは問い合わせたら翌日届けてくれた。ありがとう。
  ベランダの洗濯物干しはもっと長く設置できるといい。
