Hotel Description
So I stumbled across EG62 Elizabeth Garden during one of those “let’s try somewhere different” booking sessions, and honestly? Best accidental find in Osaka. It’s tucked away in Nihonbashi – not the fancy Tokyo district, but Osaka’s version which has this gritty, authentic charm that most tourists completely miss. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Kuromon Ichiba Market, which means you can grab the most incredible takoyaki for breakfast without dealing with the Dotonbori crowds.
The hotel itself is… well, it’s a 3-star that punches way above its weight. The building looks pretty standard from the outside – sort of blends into the neighborhood in that understated Japanese way – but the moment you walk in, there’s this sense that someone actually cares about the details. The lobby smells faintly of hinoki wood, and the staff genuinely seem happy to see you (not that practiced hotel smile, you know?). My room was smaller than what you’d get in most Western cities, but that’s Japan for you, and everything was so thoughtfully arranged that I never felt cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable – I mean, really comfortable, not just “good for the price” comfortable. And the bathroom? Spotless, with one of those high-tech toilets that I definitely didn’t need but absolutely loved.
What really sold me on this place was the location knowledge the front desk had. They didn’t just hand me a generic map – they actually marked up a personal route to hit the best local spots, including this tiny ramen shop around the corner that doesn’t even have English signage. The neighborhood comes alive at night in the most authentic way – salarymen ducking into izakayas, the sound of pachinko parlors, street food vendors setting up their stalls. It’s real Osaka life, not the tourist version. The train connections are actually perfect too – Nipponbashi Station is right there, so you can be in Namba in three minutes or Osaka Station in ten. But here’s the thing: you might not want to leave the area much because there’s so much happening right outside your door. The only downside? The walls are a bit thin, so if you’re a super light sleeper, pack earplugs. But honestly, the neighborhood sounds become part of the experience after a night or two. That 8.7 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place that surprises you in all the right ways.

Location is very good – all walking distance (15mins and under) to key areas like Kuromon Market, Namba, Dotonbori etc
Communication over whatsapp with the building management was very easy and they were very responsive.
What could be improved: Nothing.Corinne from Singapore – 29 March 2025 (9/10)

Great spacious room, plenty space for family of 4~5, with dining table and a living room. Complete facility with heater, washing machine, hair dryer, plenty of refill coffee & towels, literally every well prepared. Location is awesome, just few minutes walking to kuromon market with plenty of food and further more to Dotonbori, subway is right at the corner. This place is awesome 👍
Corina from United Kingdom – 16 December 2024 (9/10)
Great, comfortable base for a family stay; extremely easy check-in; fantastic location right by the food markets with phenomenal wealth of places to eat to choose from; lovely clean bathroom with a washer-dryer is very useful for longer stays. Very quiet despite being so close to the night markets. Very ideal for groups who like to have kitchen facilities to sort out some of their own simple meals. Property management is communicative.
What could be improved: These are small details but we were unable to get either the stove top or the smart toilet features to work on our own, in spite of one person in our group understanding Japanese. We also could not find instructions/translations for the washer/dryer, and while we could figure it out, I wonder if other groups might struggle.
In fairness to the property management, they are available over WhatsApp etc. to answer questions and we did not try reaching out for support on these issues. Still, it would be great to provide some simple instructions/troubleshooting for these facilities so that future guests can have a decent shot at getting them to work independently.Hakkalady from Malaysia – 18 May 2025 (8/10)
1) Location – walking distance to Kuromon Market, Namba station and subway.
2) separate bedrooms for privacy
3) nice living and dining areas
4) balcony with hanging rod for laundry
5) Ease of check in and front door using access code instead of keys
What could be improved: 1) not enough hooks in the bedroom for hanging clothings
2) only 1 single mirror in the whole apartment – inside the bathroom
3) check out time at 10am is a bit early – should allow at least up to 11amRobert from Australia – 26 November 2024 (8/10)
A great space in a relatively quiet street but within an easy walk of Osaka's main 'action'. The flat is well appointed with everything most travellers will need including a washing machine and a relaxing shower, and there's a combini just outside the front door if anything is missing. Communication with the hosts was very good and they were always ready to assist when asked. It was a nice alternative to the small, boxy hotel rooms we could have stayed in – we'd certainly stay again.
What could be improved: No fault of the hosts but just be careful if using Google Maps to find this place – it took us to the wrong building and we therefore tried to enter the wrong flat! Read the host's instructions carefully on how to find it and use the map shown on booking.com as reassurance – if there's not a 7/11 on the corner, you're in the wrong place! Otherwise, the only minor things to bear in mind are that the apartment is a bit dark due to being surrounded by other high-rises, and the front gate lock to the building was not functioning while we were there.Montira from Thailand – 8 April 2025 (7/10)
The location is not bad, close to the tourist attractions, but if there are more than 4 guests, the 5th guest will not have a bed. We tried to change the sofa to a sofa bed but failed. We recommend changing the sofa in front of the TV to a sofa bed to accommodate more guests. We recommend adding a towel rack in the bathroom and some basic condiments in the kitchen for guests.
